There's just been a new volcanic eruption in Iceland tonight.......!

Grimsvotn has erupted and there is a risk of flooding near Kirkubaerklauster so the ringroad is closed......North Iceland has had late spring snow aswell so travelling may be a 'wee' bit difficult.

We're flying up there for a couple of weeks on Tuesday, could be interesting.......!

Looks like 21st may could be the end of the wor

If it's anything like last time, then perhaps a nice sea voyage back would be a good idea :D

Still 5 weeks before we go, let's hope some more of the roads are open by then:)

Sounds like a cracking time to be there.

I'd love to be there.

What route are you taking Tim to get there Tim?

I may have some time on my hands in July/August, and think I might be able to get a pass for this........

Harwich to Esbjerg then Hirshals to Seydisfjoerdur via the Faeroes, can't wait:)

Ange booked the tickets as soon as they became available after that the price go's up as cheapest options are taken up.

I'm just getting the bikes and camping gear sorted, no real plan other than a big map on the wall of places and routes we know we want to try.

Just spoke to a friend of mine in Eskifjordur, East Iceland, and captain in ICESAR(Icelandic search and rescue)

The ringroad is closed, the airport is closed, other than that we're fine. Leaving Glasgow tuesday morning maybe.....!

Flooding is also expected in Skeidararsandur caused by ice melt from the Grimsvotn eruption which could damage the bridges in the region which is why the ringroad is closed.

Try get yourself across the islands to the Black Sheep, brewery in the Faroes, well worth the trip, what ever the weather....we nearly got blown off the road. The guide gave us t-shirt's and as much beer as we wanted to taste. (shame we where riding the bikes and as with most of Scandia, tight drink driving rules)
