Is it me. or does bmw clothing seem to be made for those who are more vertically than horizontally lacking?

I'm not exactly thin but I'm no bloater either. I have the BMW black textile gear with the reflective silver bits (it was half price in the sale.)

I'm 6' plus and have longish arms and legs and I find that after riding a while, gaps appear between gloves and sleeves, and between boots and trouser bottoms. The gloves aren't short and the boots aren't either, so it's the clothing. The trousers aren't too bad but the jacket body has too much room. It's OK, but I'd like something a bit more suitable.

Saw a bloke wearing a really nice touring/enduro style suit by Hein Gericke, with suede/leather trim on the neck etc, vented jacket and trousers (all the way up the outside of the legs) but apparently they stopped making it last year. He reckoned the Gericke stuff was better than bmw's.

I'm more of a fair weather rider (all on-road) but dont mind the rain. Most journeys are commuting 15 miles or so each way plus the odd jolly.

Any ideas guys?

Hi taylors
The following might interest you.
Look for them via Google search engine for retailers or manufacturers. Then get to one showing a picture, if you like the look/price find nearest dealer and swan along..........
Belstaff Discovery, also Bullson Cox Dry, Teknic Interstate, Buffalo Stinger.
Good Luck

sounds like it was a Hein Gerricke Voyager jacket you saw.
Have a look at the HG Tuareg - similar type of thing

This is the topmodel of the HG Tuareg range. Leather inserts on shoulders and elbows. Goretx innerjacket. Outerjacket features zippers on low arms shoulders and back. I have it and very pleased with it. Very good ventilation these days. Assorted trousers also available.

How much was the jacket in Belgium? In the UK H-G want £209.99. I'm visiting Germany at the end of August so may defer purchase.:D

I think I paid 420 euro for the jacket here in Belgium.
But if you're going to Germany, by all means buy it there, the cheapest you'll find anywhere; you'll pay "only" +-350 euro for it. And you'll not regret it. A great jacket!

Make sure you compare the right model of the Tuareg-series since they have a lot of models. The above one (top of the range) features leather inserts and a goretex-liner.

I have a set of the Voyager ( I think....Sympatex lining sown into the trousers and not removeable and a zip out quilted lining.) These have thicker cordura than the Tuauregs and more leather on the hips and the knees and arse. 32/33 waist and as new.

Also have the Tuareg trousers for sale. 32 waist and also as new but these have the Goretex lining that includes the quilted lining with the goretex on.

Both are as new. no damage and with all the padding, armour etc they come with.

Reason for sale

Going to buy the Rally II trousers.

Send me some offers if anyone is interested.

thanks for the advice guys.

in the end i got the 'master' jacket and trousers as they are the only ones on which the outer is goretex. on the others the liners are goretex but if you take them out in warm weather, the stuff aint waterproof! the master also features better abrasion resistance and armour (which we all hope we will never need!)
