ok so i have just put a aftermarket led rear light on to my gs1200 2007 and you guessed it now i have the LAMPR fault light on. so how do i get rid . any ideas?

I did install a LED "bulb" in the rear light that was supposed to be CAN-bus compatible. It caused also the LAMPF- error message. I probably could have installed an resistor in addition to hopefully solve it, but I did not do that as I do not like the idea of modifying the wiring. I went back to a conventional bulb.

I don't think that the led tail light was an option in 2007, so would doubt if the ecu can be re-coded, best to check with your dealer.
If not that just leaves, as already suggested the resistor route.
If it were just bulbs then I would replace with quality can-bus compatibles.
But it sounds like you have a complete light unit. Do you know what the specifications are for the new unit ?.
If not I would start with a 5 watt 39 ohm wire wound resistor on the rear light circuit and a 20 watt 10 ohm wire wound resistor on the brake light circuit.
Resistors are the nearest preferred values and slightly on the high side not knowing the specifications of your rear light.
Wire them back near the rear light in parallel with the led units.

I have a 2005 GS and fitted the OEM LED rear light and got the LAMPF error . 5 minutes on the dealers computer and it was sorted so yes a 2007 can be re-coded

That's good news, and the and easiest and neatest way to solve the problem. :thumb2

How much was the rear setup? Love to do same to my 2006 GS, the later rear LED clusters look so much neater.

Rear OEM LED light was £35 secondhand off eBay(new they are £133) and the wiring harness adapter (61 12 7 702 078) was £10 , dealer coded it free of charge

Not sure exactly which kit you bought, but my 2007 bike has had Nippy Normans LED rear lights and indicators from about 3 weeks old, the ones that have a brake light in with the indicators. Never had any error messages and not needed any recoding at the dealers. :thumb2

You can actually buy a module from Bmw for around £30 instead of the £10 lead that takes care of all the messing around with no canbus issues as its a dealer part I'll try and find the part number

i think you will find those have resistors built in

Feckin €50 at the dealers to have these coded on to the bike (Genuine BMW LED with adaptor cable)

And to be absolutely clear........this cannot be done with the GS911, it requires the main dealer system, I found this out to my cost today.

It is a fantastic upgrade and worthwhile doing......if you can get one at a reasonable price!!
