Just traded my Triumph Trophy in this weekend for 2014 1200gs TE LC and it has fitted Bmw sat nav mount , but what Sat nav do you recommend
I use a Tomtom rider 5 at the moment but is it best to use a garmin 660 or a Bmw Unit.
If I use a garmin what won't work with the scroll wheel ,
The main thing I will want to put on are crash bars any recommendations or advise.
I have a Starcom intercom I would like to fit any tips for wiring up to Battery or ignition feed and anything to recommend to work with the bike i.e is the bike Bluetooth or not
Thanks:)

the answers to all those questions are all in the relevent sections of this site.all have been asked and answered before, the search function is very usefull get a cuppa and use the search function.:thumb

My own preference is for the BMW Navigator 5, bigger screen than the 660 and integrates with the bike/thumbwheel really well. Once you have one, you will wonder how you ever managed without it :)

Try nippy Normans website they supply auxiliary cables that plug into spare auxiliary socket supplied on the new bmw wc

Bmw navigator IV is excellent and works with the wheel. Great value and you can pick one up on eBay for less than £300 with lifetime maps.

The bmw nav 4 unit is the same as a 660 but, only the bmw unit works with the nav wheel on the left hand bar, the 660 wont.

So bmw nav 4 or nav 5 is the way to go. I have a nav 4 its a good unit with the same nav features as the zumo 660. I did need the firmware on the bmw navigator updating to the latest version to stop the unit trying to power down, a helpful dealer can do that.

if you want the bells n whistles then im sure the nav 5 is better, depends how deep your pockets are.

Thanks nice cuppa and some searching found some good answers ,
Used the triumph trophy forum before , a better lay out and things in catergories making easier to find but after time found some of the answers here :clap

No connection to the sellers, but there are a couple of sets of Engine bars in the FS&W at the moment with a good saving over the new prices.

Thanks , not picked up bike yet so don't know chassis number but will keep an eye out

Remember that the Nav 5 only has a bluetooth connection to your intercom, will your Starcom work with this??

A very good point, I suspect it would not work for the OP without an additional BT module. Nav 5 is great, I love mine, and like the way it integrates with information from the ECU so I can dump it up on the screen. I've got the BMW Engine Bars on mine but am thinking of ditching them for some Machine Art moto head covers as I only use mine on the road.

I suppose to summarise for the OP

Nav 4 - Cheaper, Less info available from the bike, will work with the starcom out of the box

Nav 5 - More Expensive, Bigger Screen, more functions / features but Bluetooth only for the output.

If you are just interested in the NAV to get you from A-B, and not to fussed about getting data from the ECU displayed on the NAV Screen, Nav 4 is the way to go :)

Already have Bluetooth mod for intercom , Tomtom only connects via Bluetooth as well.
Cannot understand why they make them without hardwire connection , technology I think

Costs more likely mate :)

If you want to see a Nav-V in the flesh I'm down the road in Warrington if you are passing this way, more than welcome to have a look at it on my TE and play around with it.

If you fancy a ride over to North West Manchester I can bore you for hours about all things WC related at my shop. :beerjug:

You'll get a coffee and maybe even some biccies, but Gaz will sell you all sorts of useless tat that you won't realise you don't actually need until you're away down the road..

Only kiddin.. ABW is a fantastic place to spend a few hours, and I'd recommend them for servicing without a seconds hesitation..

Thanks , looked it up and saved site , never new they existed will call in

I've been thinking about an LC purchase and the inability to hardwire the Nav 5 to my Autocom is annoying me! Current setup is a Zumo 550, Autocom SPA with a Kenwood radio, I initially tried the Autocom BT-02 module to link my phone/autocom/zumo conveniently together, the result being that sound quality was naff and the phone often failed to connect autocom. The dedicated autocom cable (4066) solved everything and now only the phone connects to the zumo via BT.

With the Nav 5 is it just a case of the phone connecting to the Nav 5 (as before) then using the BT-02 to make the connection to the autocom .... and everything works fine??? I guess I could hardwire music directly to the autocom if the sound quality isn't up to much.
