New Multi V4

I’ve lost touch . Have you actually ordered one yet , Chris ?

It's why I'm watching all things Multi along with 1290. Reviews and vids seem to be flowing gently now - all helps. The deposit is fully refundable, but apart from 'that' rear mudguard which I really dislike but prob keeps the rear radar clean, that and the fact you have to pay for TPMS and key-less filler cap, I have to say it's looking like my cup of tea. If we ever get out of lock-down I'll get a test ride booked. Although some guys seem to be okay with ignoring the restrictions and going anyway :blast

The Multi V4 does seem to have addressed most of the issues of the 1260. The only people moaning about it seem to be diehard old Multi owners plus one who’s on his first Ducati .....

What do you see as the "issues of the 1260" ?
Genuinely interested, I've never owned one but ridden a 1260 many times and really rate it, I don't think it has too many negative points apart from being a little left field perhaps compared to other bikes in the segment it gets lumped in with.
The V4 is a technological tour de force and is getting rave reviews and I look forward to test riding it soon, a little bit of me thinks Ducati may have diluted the Multi ethos a little too much to compete with the all rounder GS :nenau

Dreadful screen.All 1200/1260 Multis have always had crap screens with buffeting.It seems as though the V4 has finally addressed this.
Uncomfortable riding position.
Rubbish pillion provision with crap seat and peg position.
Lumpy motor at low revs-ok it’s a twin but even so.
Rubbish TFT.

The V4 seems to have addressed everything,though it has poor fuel economy.

I still won’t be buying one as I can’t justify £20k plus on this kind of bike but I think it will be a huge improvement over the old bike.

As a previous owner of. 1200s I cannot agree with you more and validate your points as they are the same as me . Much as I hate to agree with you lol nail on the head . That’s why I am now revisiting the option of ownership of the V4 .

This is why I've never bought a demo bike :D Enjoyed watching it more than the 4 mates video about 'which bike am I buying?'

I like his attempt at excuses when he drops it. Definitely the suspension settings and not his riding. :rolleyes:

There are aftermarket work around s for the screen issue as there are for many other bikes,
which in my experience isn’t as bad as I’ve read or been lead to believe.
The riding position, again I don’t find a problem, bars to seat and seat to peg relationship are all fine for me, there are options for different seats,bar risers etc. None of which I’ve felt necessary, I like the “sit in” riding position and have become used to it.
I have no need to consider pillion comfort or their seating position/peg relationship.
Yes, it’s a v twin it may be a little lumpy at low revs but I’m lead to believe it’s significantly better than earlier 1200 versions and it’s perfectly tractable and has great mid and upper mid range delivery.
The TFT is probably a generation behind what is considered current and some of the read outs are small and not easy to read but it’s fine and the monocle around the gear position indicator is inspired :D

I find the V4 styling a bit bland and samey but were all different and don’t all like the same things, based on what I’ve seen and read I’m sure it will be a great ride but the fuel range and fuel consumption are off putting for a touring bike.

I’ve ridden a few and all have had dreadful screens . A mate had one 2 years ago and tried SIX different screens . None helped and he turned up on our annual Asturias trip with no screen at all , as he said it was the best option .

It’s obviously all relative to height and torso length etc .
I found the riding position always uncomfortable as it fixed you into one position too much .
My girlfriend hated the pillion seat and she’s not fussy as has ridden bikes herself for years .

I’ve found the small pikes peak screen stops the buffeting but not the noise , I’m six foot

I’m sure it’s much better with a £2000 system fitted.But when you’re paying £18000 ish for the bike in the first place, you shouldn’t have to spend another £2k to make it run correctly...

Actually the more of these reports I read the happier I feel. The deposit I've put on is for a March bike. Test rides are banned as the covid restrictions mean the Ducati insurance has been revoked. So it's looking like the bike will arrive sans un routier prior to signing for it. :blast I said I'd never do that. I suppose a ride on the dealer demo before signing might be possible but in honesty I doubt I'll do that and it may still be illegal anyway. Depends what Boris says next Monday I guess, but as this is supposed to be the lock-down to end all lock-downs (until the next one :-) we'll wait and see.

I’ve bought many bikes without testing first, due to living on an island and not always having access to demos.I’m sure you’ll love it.
 
For what its worth im in acactly same position a you just waiting boris my V4 is imminent
 
Worcester Ducati already has my bike in , im waiting for a test before I pull the pin as I love the Gs so much , but im itchin......
 
The one they had available was/is a cancelled order so they said. It’s the Sport colours.

Interested to have some thoughts on Alloy or Spokes. Had spokes on my old GSA but the 1290 has alloy wheels. It’s a no cost option. If I hit a pot-hole I’d rather have spokes but won’t be doing any meaningful off-roading. So I guess it’s a looks thing mostly. Views welcome.

Out of interest are they the forged Alloys on the sport as per the 1260 Pikes pike ?
 
Same as D, mine is due 1st week of March.Waiting on a test ride and then hopefully a deal can be had for my 1250 Exclusive.It will be strange after 7 GSA & GS'ers........
