They didn’t use the Pan America on that trip :blast

He meant that they took some parts off the upcoming Pan America (spoke wheels and suspension bits) and used them on the Livewire to make it more suitable for the trip.

Be interesting to see if any manufacturer bother to make a 19" to fit. Would imagine the market for them would be a bit small. From the reviews it sounds like the bikes high speed flickability might be improved if they do though.

Probably more likely to see a 17" go on, but because this model is quite a bit larger than the old multi I think it might end up looking odd.

German magazine tested it recently - and it got one of the highest test scores ever. It sounds like a fabulous bike.

Fully loaded with all extras it came to 254kg on their weighbridge and developed a 165PS on their dyno. The price of the power is thirst for fuel

There are some great reviews out there at the moment and I have watched most several times. This new incarnation of the old bike looks like a ground breaker in the race to be top dog. Test ride next and then maybe a change if its as good as they say , life is short.

This was definitely on my list to test ride as am about to get a new bike (straight replacement of GS1250 with a new one being the decision I have made) - delivery in March I would think. I have decided against it though as four things have put me off. The first is purely practical and it is that I have all the kit, farkles and panniers etc for the GS. The second thing is completely personal though and it is that I just don't particularly like the look of it. I can't put my finger on quite why and it may be completely different in the flesh? It could be as simple as the colour scheme matches Sheffield United and that just simply would not do!!! :) Third thing - I know it is pathetic but having had my first ever shaft driven bike, I really don't miss cleaning and lubing chains. :) The last thing is the price - I don't feel like it is that much better than the GS to warrant the additional dough when you add on panniers, bling, nice Ducati jacket etc. I think I would rather use the cash to fund an S1000R as a second bike.

That said, I am really looking forward to hear what you think when you have one and I will probably wish I had done the same! I am sure they are awesome!

Is the Multi much more than the 1250, price wise ?
Someone on here just bought a new 1250 with luggage and it was £22k !! The V4S with full travel spec is £21495.

Mine is £17,175.00. GS1250 TE with heated seats. Plus the dealer is doing me a great deal of my old GS plus £4.5K ish.

Lost 2 mates to the covid , one who was going to get the V4 , so feel maybe i should finish what he started.

Hmmm. Maybe I will wait for that test ride on a V4S after all.....

I know what I'd do in your position. Have you ever heard the testers say what they're saying en mass about this bike with any other bike before? There's always something they hate, something they'd change. Many things usually. But they're all saying it's top of the tree.

The caveat is that the GS is more likely (time and reviews will tell) to be better off-road. Can't imagine a single person exists who'd rather drop a V4 over a GS off-road. But as we've always said on here - how many take their nice new GS off-roading?5%? 2%? Fewer?

It's starting to sound like Ducati have pitched this about right. A fast/smooth/capable (and, dare I say, better looking bike than the GS) tourer that's also ok off road if you fancy that. It's a dearer bike, but let's face it - if you can afford a new specced up GS you can probably afford the Duc anyway.

Not really bothered but it'll be interesting to watch the new reg sales in March.
