I'm struggling if I'm honest. Not keen on a brand new bike that needs new cylinder heads. Groundhog day after the Goldwing fiasco

I'll leave my order live for now but it certainly buys a load of time to test ride the KTM and maybe some others. Maybe we should just buy that Honda postie bike.

You're welcome to try my Grom, Monkey or 390!

You could buy all three and have change for postie bike for the price of Multi. A little ridiculous if you think about it for too long!

One of those grey Hunter Cubs is actually quite tempting. Bet they're quite fun. Slow fun. But fun nonetheless.

I'd like a red Postie but not for £4k

Im doing the same as you (apart from the KTM bit ), but the test bike is not back in service for 6 to 8 weeks , main problem for me is a £23k bike that has been messed about with before its turned a wheel , complete engine change . I refused a new engine in my 2015 BM after I blew it up as it was component failure and did not want to have messed about bike at 4k miles , i wanted an original bike .They gave me a new triple black.
My point is a new bike is factory built not a tech in a workshop with a torque wrench. I would only accept a new , factory built bike with the problems solved.

Good news. A fix is on the way !!

Can you even believe they build something that huge, that carries that many containers. That doesn't flip or break apart in rough seas. I find it bewildering.

Now, about these tiny valve guides....

The big ones are 400m long and carry 24,000 shipping containers.

Had a V4S on loan this morning whilst mine was in for a service, believe most of what you read from the press it's creamy smooth and very easy to ride fast, quick shifter is buttery smooth, great ergonomics, the seat is more akin to other bikes as opposed to the "sit in" Multistrada seating position, brakes are fantastic as is the skyhook suspension, the ride is very very good, there's a waiting list apparently.......
My dealer confirmed the valve guide issue, not all his stock is affected and their demo bike obviously isn't.
I'm not buying one......

Seems strange they would have 2 suppliers for the valve guides.
Wouldn't have thought they needed that many

Well you can stuff that for a game of soldiers!

I buy a brand new (£22k...say it quietly) bike and they offer to fit new cylinder heads to it before I collect it? Have I read that right? Ahahahahahaha!

Wow. So generous. No thanks.

Just in case you're not sure where my head is.....I'M OUT!!

Jesus , like minds , just cancelled mine as why spend 23k for a fucked about bike , shame as I was keen . Owners of the affected bikes will be now have the worry of , when they sell , oh that was the 2021 bike with the refit engine , no thanks .
Factory is factory , built and sealed not messed about with . I feel for the new owners who now have run a bike in , wait another 4 to 6 weeks for a new engine , then run in again and worry about the next issue .

Absolutely ditto mate. Thats my thinking. Who would buy the early 2021 bikes with the valve guide issue, even if it's been put right allegedly? If was a £10k bike I'd be more relaxed, but £22k+!

I'll sit and watch this unfold. When I know its sorted I'll get one, but suspect that'll be some months from now. Disappointing, but there are bigger issues about right now aren't there.

So the 1290 will get some new boots. That'll make it feel like a new bike for a while.
