I took one for a test ride today, and I’ve got to say I was pleasantly surprised.
I had it for about 2.5 hrs so I did a bit of everything. Firstly, I was expecting to be a bit disappointed as I’d tried the old version and didn’t really like it.
However, I started off taking it on the M62, it’s got more than enough power to travel at well in excess of the speed limit.( of course I only did 70 mph officer)
The seat is fine for several hours, the brakes are good and it handles nicely.
This was a DCT model and I’ve got to say the actual changes are silky smooth. As it’s a new bike the change points are rubbish but that’ll change as it beds in.
It also had the semi active suspension which was just a bit harsh on occasions. I found afterwards I could have altered that though.
The only point that was less than 100% was the heated grips. I think they’re a little bit weak. It’s sufficient rather than red hot.
Over all a cracking bike.
This test ride was after I’d tried a 1250 RT recently. I liked that as well, but the Honda felt as though it ‘fitted’ me better.
Especially as it’s about 6k cheaper.
