H&B have announced a new range of panniers for 2009 named the Explorer and also announced their Gobi panniers will also be available in black.

Given H&B rails and top box racks are universal for most of their panniers these could be of interest to some Tossers.

I have the 'Journey' panniers for my 1100 andcan heartily recommend them. When i bought them, i nearly went for the Gobi ones, but price dictated otherwise.

Those new 'Gobi's' in black look like winners........:thumb

I have a set of gret H & B Gobi's on mine, I do like these new ones in black, I am assumin that they will fit on my existing pannier rails by the piccy :nenau

Spring has sprung

Well they said Spring 2009 and it looks like they keep their delivery dates as I'm now running with complete set of black Gobis on the F 800 GS and just the panniers on the R80 g/s as Hepco are the only manufacturer making a set of rails for both bikes.

Frames for the F800 are Hepco's new quick release system and can be fitted and removed in minutes, when off the bike only the mounting points remain and they blend in nicely with the bikes frame.

Gobis are not not sized to allow for single exhausts but I've not found that a problem and as Hepcos racks can take any Hepco pannier there are lots of alternatives if it was.

Tough as old boots it would seem and after some recent trips 100% waterproof! :thumb

Spling has blung, indeed, sultan.

Bloke with the blue car seems to have parked across your drive!

Will you be able to get the bike (and boxes) between it and the silver vehicle? If not, it's back into the garage I'm afraid.

PS Whole set up is a credit to you. :beerjug:

Can't believe no-one has mentioned costs yet ! You lot must be made of ££££££££££.

Apologies, newbie here.

I like the look of the new Xplorer panniers and when I mailed Motobins they mentioned that the mounting kit for the top box on a 1200GS requires that some of the body work requires cutting.

Does anyone have any experience of this? I don't like the sound of cutting my new pride and joy.

Thanks in advance

Jon

Can nobody come up with any ORIGINAL ideas nowadays.
H&B have just copied everyone else's design.
'Lets put black plastic bits round the edges and angle the lids', says Mr Hepco.
'Thats a good idea Mr Becker, nobody's done that yet'

Nothing wrong with them ... but just following the fashions eh.

Edit. I suppose they did have a novel idea with the water carrying plastic ones. Credit where credits due.

Posted details of fitting a H&B rack on my first 1200, you can find it here.

That was a 2006 bike but from memory from 2008 BMW supplied the bikes with the cut outs made at the factory.

To be honest it's not a major mod even if you have to do it. :thumb

Water? I was thinking vodka myself :D

Cheers Thunder for your reply - looks straight forward enough. I see on the H&B site that they have (or about to) release a new alu rack.
