New panniers on my 1200GS

I bought the BMW panniers for my GS and fitted them on today.

I'd kind of umm-ed and aah-ed a bit as I'd read varying reports on here about them being problematic and expensive compared with other makes of pannier, but looked at them at the dealers and was surprisingly impressed. I ordered them on Tuesday, and they arrived yesterday. Had the locks coded to the ignition key and they fitted on my bike perfectly, with no need for adjustment of the locking lugs.

The expanding mechanism is clever though I wonder if it takes up more space than it's worth.

The inner bags are very nicely made too.

The whole lot from my dealer? £500 for the panniers, inner bags and locks. Bargain.

On the whole I'm very pleased. They make the bike look very "Ewan and Charlie"!

Recently returned from a two - up trip to Italy and the panniers were the most convenient and secure I have ever used on any bike. They are heavy though, even empty, and reduce filtering opportunities. The expanding bits helped us to carry enough clothing etc. for 12 days. Hope you get the chance to use them soon.
