Anyone got corrosion here?

2006 model with 10.5K miles

Also, bought my bike from BMW with a hugger already fitted and had a wee peak behind it yesterday and quickly had to look away as there is fairly mega corrosion happening where the water must collect down at the lowest point beside the rear shock - worth a call to dealer too? Sorry, no photo.

Yup!

Mine's got corrosion in the same place.

Just got my final drive cover & front cover replaced under warranty (all respect to Vine's - no quibbling at all).

I think this would be a bigger job though - not really sure I want half my bike replacing!

Errr... no, at least not the last time I looked. And mine's an 05 with 20k on it. This corrosion business seems to vary a lot from bike to bike. It's not as if I wash it much either. :D

On my 55 plate the corrosion is bubbling up on the (2nd) front engine cover, all casing screw bosses (including around the gearbox as per yours), the engine bolt bosses, the swing arm around the oil seal cover, the rear hub where the spokes go in and numerous other places.

Its been ridden all year round but washed regularly. I think BM can only use eco / human friendly coatings so they are not very corrosion resistant.... ho hum

Most car and bike manufacturers now use Eco friendly water based paints instead of the solvent/oil based of old.

They are now where near as good!
:eek
