No dealer will admit this is a major problem. One of the reasons I moved away from BMW was the shoulder shrugging and denial of well publicised issues by more than one dealer. If only they were just open and honest with their customers. As to the change of brake manufacturer not being a cost cutting exercise, are you serious?

Edit - What I will say is that BMW are probably the best in the industry at warranty repairs, and will go out of their way to keep their customers happy. I don’t know of any other bike manufacturers that would deliver a 5 Series while your bike is being repaired. So if you were to have a major recall with any manufacturer, BMW is the one to have it with!

If my local dealer was better and if BMW could release a bike that didn’t fall apart I might be tempted again one day.Unlikely though.
I’ll just stick to their old stuff that was built and painted properly and designed to last longer than a PCP deal.

Why the Brakes on my 1250 are brilliant much prefer them to the Brembos feel sorry for the Guys that have had issues but are BMW any worse than Honda/KTM

They’re obviously not brilliant, hence the major recall

And yes, BMW are worse, and well known for it now. Just look at all the recalls/ issues on new models. They have form.

In use they are Brilliant and look much better like the way they are enclosed unlike the Brembos,

Im still riding around on my 790 R and the fuel gauge doesn't even work, and I got the call prior to collecting it you cannot pick it up there is an issue, Manufactures are all the same just a different badge on the Tank

Make sure you get your £500 worth of goodies BMW offered for the hassle of replacing them. I did. As for the ones that think leaking breaks are not a big issue and get on with your life...Just ignore them. Their advice alone is telling.

No I haven’t seen that - but the KTM speed wobbles are well know, search the interweb, you will find hundreds of references going back years and it still continues - also check out 44 teeth website recent on track testing, the suspension is poor quality and causes weaves, they had to replace it with decent WP kit to stop the mid corner wallowing - not good for a supposed premium manufacturer. I won’t ever consider a KTM until they fix their budget suspension and weave/wobble issues.

Cue the raft of posts from the 1,000 mile a year brigade saying they they never have a problem.

I do feel sorry for the OP who couldn't pick his bike up today because of a major brake recall and did have a panic on myself, I was due to pick up my new r1250 gs rally TE this morning and thought oh no bloody typical but went to pick it up anyway, on arrival I asked to see both the sales guy and the manager and queried the major brake recall, I was told there was no brake recall and my bike was ready to go, after about 45 mins of the guy going over everything about the bike with me I was on my way riding off into the prevailing storm that we have down here. I enjoyed the ride home on the bike ( which is my first GS ) and am with it as happy as a pig in shit. still feel very sorry for the guy who couldn't have his, as I would have been well pissed off.
