Any problem with a new bike is not the best, of course not, but FFS the old women on here tend to blow everything totally out of proportion so have to be countered for some common sense balance.

You didn’t exactly but you did say :

I’d notice it, make a judgement as to its significance and get the dealer to fix or replace it, what could be easier or simpler?

Anyone with any significant experience of motorcycling would not be phased by such things, would you? Those without experience should get the dealer to take a look if they have any doubts.

I change my bikes because I actually ride them and pile on the miles, rather than just dick about on them like you do.

But are they not entitled to scream blue murder, I mean they either own or have owned BMW,s and certainly know when bullshit is being served on the plate, imagine if the newspapers did not blow a scandal out of proportion, nothing would ever be solved...........

FFS, 20 pages of drivel and so called "Experts" advice, my 1250 has no break issues at all and their work brilliantly. Has any other 1250 owner any problems? The 1250 is absolutely brilliant and when that "Shit Cam" comes in it goes like stink, especially in dynamic mode

Just from reading this thread it looks like the brake issue has been blown way out of proportion. As far as I can make out there's only been one reported issue by an owner in the forum and one where a potential owner had the dealer keep their bike to fix it before giving it to them, which to me is statistically insignificant (on here). If there's tons on other forums and on the interwebs then fair enough, but there's a good number of folk on here and to only one person actually have an issue is nothing.

Now I'm not saying a brake issue is insignificant or anything like that, in fact I can't think of anything worse. However, I do agree with Engineer in that some common sense has to be applied to things like this. If you pull the brake and can see a small stream of fluid come out then you should be calling the dealership and getting them to recover it and fix the issue. If there's some fluid but just pulling the brake doesn't visually add to it and there's no apparent loss of fluid from the reservoir or anything then riding the bike to the dealership doesn't seem like a silly idea. Riding 2000 miles with any brake issue is ridiculous and I don't think that anyone suggested that should be done, but somewhere along the lines it was misinterpreted.

My 1250 just had it's first service and I've had no caliper weeping or anything, so I'm quite happy with my bike so far.
