Regarding Garfields email
Hi Gaz,
Not sure of what the actual code is but there definitely is one. My dealer********** was informed (by me) that Vines of Guilford had replaced pads under warranty. My dealer rang Vines and was told of this warranty code. Result was that my disk and pads were replaced under warranty.
If your dealer wants to ring ********the person who knows all about it there is *************
Hope this helps and let me know how you get on.
(blocked out info because of whats below)
well here goes
vines have been fitting pads & discs under warranty BUT doing it under the wrong code
the code they have been using was for sticking pads
not disintigrating pads
and all the warranty work they have been doing they aint getting paid for it when the next warranty audit is done by BMW
you gotta laugh
not only are they having us over with pads that are crap and wont even meet the first 6000 mile service and doing our discs in as well
sounds like now BMW have a plan to F**k their own dealers over to
As funny as it seems what we really ought to do is stick up for Vines because as a dealer at least they recognised that there is a problem with those crap pads and did somthing about it to keep the customer happy - which is a lot more than the MBW machine is doing
Spoke to a BMW dealer in Ireland who was very helpful and said he would get a tech guy to call to talk about this
there was also a major change in his voice when i said trading standards had got hold of this brake pad failure and what BMW were up to - i gave them all the details of this thread to get a better picture of what the situation was.
Jamie Diggins (BMW customer services) also told me again how the fault was all down to the way we ride our bikes and BMW have absolutly no idea how long a set of pads will last - when i told him i was told by Frey Auto's BMW in Austria that the life of the pads should be 10K - 15K Km
he said that bloke didnt know what he was talking about and shouldnt have told me
(he was the service manager)

nice one BMW customer services keep up the good work
