New scrambler

It's bizarre, but I still genuinely believe they are looking to clear Scrambler stock first hence the delay on the Urban

When you consider just how similar the two models are. What other answer could there be? :augie

Do you know what seat the demo had on it? All the demos I've seen have had the standard (820mm) version fitted. This seat has a dip in it and is narrower at the front so the rider can get their feet down more easily

You can spec the Scrambler with a taller 850mm seat as a no cost option (which is what I've done) and the good news for you is the Urban GS appears to come with the taller seat as standard fit plus you could also fit a small screen as seen on the Lac Rose concept bike :thumb2

Bar risers are already on my "to do" list

Thanks. I think the demo had the stock seat. The spec for the Urban says 850mm.

Screen, decent seat, risers, all we need now is some luggage, maybe like some early 80s Krausers ;)

By the way the Scrambler sounded amazing - I spotted "Akrapovic' in tiny letters on the inside of the silencer.

Negatives? There was one. I came back with quite bad back pain (I’m 5’11’’). So handlebar risers or a thicker seat needed. Any ideas appreciated :)

Taller seat (can specify on order for no extra cost) and bar risers (Wunderlich £42 from Nippy Normans) have made it work well for me (6' 2").

Yep ... fitted as OE (see top silencer) :thumby:

That would suggest that when they launched the Scrambler they didn't know they were going to do an Urban version so soon afterwards !?!?!

How so?

They showed the Scrambler at the 2015 NEC show and even then they were saying that it would be in the showrooms for September 2016 when it actually arrived in October :blast

There are lots of unsold Scramblers sat in dealer showrooms with plenty more stacked in the UK warehouse for immediate delivery

Someone at the factory seriously fucked up on this. BMW have made 1000's of bikes but the buyers aren't buying. It really is a bit too late in the year to be trying to sell that kind of bike

The differences between the Scrambler and Urban are so minimal why wouldn't they launch the Urban straight away unless it is that they have too many unsold Scramblers :augie

If my dealer will turn a scrambler into a urban for the same price, I'll order one tomorrow. Subject to test ride, of course.
