New Sena 20s Bluetooth Intercom with FM tuner

I haven't used the SR10, but it's got a mini DIN input, so you'd need a cable from the Kenwood to the SR10 and it wouldn't power the radio the same way the Autocom battery eliminator does.
I believe Sena do a dedicated cable for the SR10/Kenwood connection, but as you say I'd need a separate battery eliminator. The usual earth loop interference problems associated with battery eliminators probably aren't a problem with the Autocom removed.

I currently use ear buds so the sound quality is probably as good as it's going to get, hence the nervousness about going to a BT install!

FM update

Hi folks does anyone have an update on the early Sena model (1406/1407) the FM on my 1407 model has never worked, there appeared to mention of exchange units which corrected this issue 😢😰😰

Is this the case ?

Tks Ken

Now the dust seems to have settled with the Sena 20S, would it be a viable alternative to my Autocom setup? Currently I'm using an Autocom SPA with a Zumo 550 and a Kenwood radio, I tried linking the Autocom to the Zumo with an Autocom BT-02 bluetooth module but the sound quality was (to my ears) just not acceptable so finally settled with all the hard wiring options, is the Sena 20S substantially better?

My Autocom setup works perfectly, I can put up with being wired to the bike, but I'm considering swapping to the new GS LC and also go for the Nav 5 at the same time ... but I'd be stuck with BT connections that so far I haven't been impressed with. Am I correct in thinking that a Sena 20S with the SR10 radio adapter would fulfil my needs and still retain the PTT Kenwood function, and importantly ... would the sound quality be close or equal to that of the Autocom SPA?

Bobbin-Man, I had an Autocom SuperPro Avi with BTM-02 and had a string of ground loop issues and alternator interference plus crap audio quality via Bluetooth from MP3 on my Zumo 660. Phone conversations were also problematic. I got fed up trying to achieve perfection with it and went to a wireless solution.

The 20S with Ultimate Hearing in-ear monitors is pure bliss in comparison. My first set of 20S had hardware issues with monitors, resolved by Sena with exchange units with later serial numbers.

Not yet bothered with my Kenwood radios, might do in the future. Never use the FM radio as I prefer to listen to my own tunes via iPhone, but tested it and it works okay. Battery life is also superb.

Yes. Contact your dealer, or raise a support case with Sena and they'll change the faulty units.

Hi all

May I please ask for some advice? I have a Sena starting with serial number 1408. But for the life of me I cant get the FM to receive properly. It works fine when at home, but the moment you go out on the road it loses reception and will not tune to any station whatsoever.

Settings in software or hardware- what can be done to sort this problem please?

Are you on the latest firmware, and do you raise the aerial?

Also, using the Sena app, check your radio is set to the correct region - mine was set to North America and I had to reset to Europe.

I checked- newest firmware and aerial up. I am from South Africa, so I had only "worldwide" as an obvious choice. Will it help of I change to Europe maybe?

It may be the unit. I suggest raising a case with Sena, they usually respond within a day or two. Worldwide sounds right to me for your setting. I did find I had to tune the radio when I was away from the house, and I don't think it has RDS type tracking, which locks the station through geographical frequency changes. Another option might be to buy a good portable radio and plug it it via the jack socket on the device.

With the 20s is there a way, during GPS prompts, to have the music (or radio) reduced in volume but not completely muted?

I haven't got one of these but just watched a review on You Tube from Revzilla and they say the FM aerial is the speaker wire and suggest routing over the top of the helmet to improve reception. Might help:D
