La Rosierres St B

The opening scene of the Italian Job was filmed there. Did you singing 'On Days Like These' by Matt Monroe as you rode through the pass.

Great scenery.

I didn’t mate, but fair play to my partner.

We did this last year in a z4 with roof down at that song playing.

Happily we didn’t drive straight into a snow plough digger dozer thing

If you’re coming back via Wipers, I can heartily recommend the Yathida noodle house Thai cafe, just down the side of the town hall on Diksmuidestraat.. Superb food for peanuts.

Just out of interest, any idea what mpg you’re getting from the behemoth?

Thanks. No real plans at mo.

I don’t know but I did zero the trip meter etc on departure so I’ll have a look tomorrow.

I haven’t been raping it so it should be ok I think.

If you haven’t noticed the effect on your wallet in Switzerland, it can’t be too bad!!

To be honest I try not to get a hard on over fuel prices.

I’m on holiday so I’ll just get it done.

I think most places are nudging 2.00 litre, I think Switzerland was about 10pc more ish.

If the Orange Baby gets his shit in one pile hopefully the fuel thing will calm down a bit, I do hope he has grown ups in his inner circle advising him :)

If B and B Fresco have a room available, Eric and his wife are fantastic hosts and he has a secure garage for your bike. Ten minute walk to the centre.

Great thanks.

I may be able to blag another day off fingers crossed.

I fancy a bit more Vosges on way back too

First stop Ypres.

I’m sure you all know its importance.

For me it’s another chance to visit the Gurkha memorial. They looked after me when I was not well a few years back.

Through the gate for a cold drink and to admire the City Hall.

Been loads of times, still a great visit

Amazing build, beautiful timeless lines, admired by millions………

We must have walked / cycled past you, just spent a week in Ypres in the van. Would have bought you that cold drink (y)

My Dad spent time with the Gurkhas when in the Royal Marines, tremendous respect for them.

Enjoy your slippers.

Thanks MH

Respect to your Dad RM

Maybe catch you another time

Day 6

Day off bike in La Plagne.

Slept like a log, time to admit I’m getting older…….

Lovely start to day.

Hotel is overrun by a huge group of French pensioners, good to see them out and about going walking etc, it also explains the faint waft of piss as I walk to breakfast.

Anyway, they have turbo charged cock pops, always my benchmark.

Retire to offices mess for coffee, croissant, and newspapers.

Nice chesterfield sofa

This place is tired, but it’s also v good
