@ Hex Support........ I've just seen on Instagram, A Hex GS-911 software update from the standard 1200 TFT to the 1250 TFT, showing lean angle and sports dash.
Where can I find out more about this ? How to do it etc
Cheers (y)

There are two YouTube , with guys showing the results , but no instructions on how it is done . (Sorry don't have a link )
I think its in Service function Electronics
Opening screen can be changed , even the M logo
Sports screen addition
Heated Grips : six stages recommended
'Comfort Indicators'
I'm surprised that Hex are not promoting this with a how to guide
I'll try it , for the first time on a friend''s 1250 in the new year to see what happens.

Its a huge selling point for Hex, which does make it strange its not being promoted. Be interesting to see how this evolves in the future.
Ultimately, the ability to make changes to the TFT interface and update the software would be goal ?

The Sports screen , with its lean angle display , is of no use, unless you are an adrenaline junkie with knee sliders. Heated grips, with six stages, are, however, a very desirable option .

Hi Both

The sport screen can be enabled from the Instrument Cluster service functions > coding configuration. Here you can set the sport mode to enabled, along with activating laps and changing your boot logo. Although the laps are traditionally used for racing, I personally like to set laps to review my lean angles at different rides. The only issue for me (I've logged a request with the developers :-)) is that you need to start/end a lap with the flash to pass button, so when I toggle a strobe on flash to pass with the ezCAN, I start a new lap.

Although there is no practical use of the lean angles and break force, it remains pretty cool to have that on an adventure bike :-) I too enjoy the additional heated grips settings, as they just didn't balance it correctly with 2.

We do send out marketing mailers on these releases, but this should be improving in the new year.

Kind regards and safe travels

I don’t see how this is possible on a r1200 gsa without a factory tft setup as the 911 is only a diagnostic tool

That is great information. Thank you.
Guess what Ill be doing in the next few days :coold

What bmw software version do you need to be able to configure these settings then
Hi Zx9man

If your bike is equipped with a TFT and you've done a software update on this in the last 3 years, it should have the required i-LVL version that supports this update. I can get the specific version next week once our developers return from leave if you need it.

For the GS-911, you simply need to update to the latest software to be able to configure this.

Kind regards

Hi Zx9man

Minimum version for your CAFD on the ECUs needs to be 6 or higher, but like I said, if you've had a dealer update in the last 3 years, you'll be good to go :-)

Kind regards

I’ve just tried to add the Sports Menu and multi_level heated grip adjustments to my 2010 R1250GS using my GS911 USB (updated with the latest firmware just last week).
The GS911 connected to the bike properly and read all the fault codes, etc., but the options for the Sport Menu and heated grips were not showing anywhere. They didn’t appear greyed out suggesting that they weren’t available to me, they didn’t appear at all in any form anywhere in the GS911 functions menus.

Does anyone have any idea why that might be the case?

Hi P248

It should be available under vehicle functions or by navigating directly to the bike's instrument cluster (either clicking on the controller in an autoscan or going to detected vehicle > instrument cluster). From here you'll be able to see the coding options drop down, where you can select sport mode.

Assuming a typo, your bike is a 2020 R1250GS, in which there will be a XKOMBIHI instrument cluster, which should load the menu correctly - with a USB device, it might be that you're not connected to the internet while loading the service function menu. The internet connection is required for custom coding on the instrument cluster (even on a USB device), as we process a backup of your cluster's coding in case something goes wrong with the coding changes. This allows the user to always revert back to a known working state. If you're in the garage far away from a router, you can connect your laptop to your mobile phone's hotspot to obtain internet connection for this exercise.

Kind regards

I think sports dash & 6x heated grips are TFT equipped models only

Hex Support, thanks for responding so quickly. The bikes is definitely a 2019 R1250GS with TFT, bought new on 01.03.2019

I’ve got some good news, though. After connecting the GS911 to the bike again, the menu options for the Sports Menu and heated grips appeared. I was able to add the multi-level heated grips function to the bike successfully.

I then went into the Coding Functions menu, but neither the Sports Menu button nor any of the other buttons would respond. After going back to the Home page a couple of times I eventually managed to get the Sports Menu button to function and the GS911 started to work on uploading the Sports Menu to the bike. Unfortunately the bike battery dropped below 12.5v at this point, so everything stopped!

The good news is that it appears that my GS911 will be able to add the updates to my bike. The bad news is that it seems to have taken a number of reconnections to wake up the functionality in my GS911. Anyway, it looks like everything will be good now
