[h=4]Changes made from version 3.20 to 3.30:[/h]
  • Added support for avoiding country tolls while routing in Europe.
  • Fixed an issue with presenting alternate routes during route review.
  • Enhanced traffic condition information.
  • Fixed an issue that could prevent routes from being imported correctly from an SD card.
  • Fixed a potential issue with MP3 playback when connected to the BMW Communication System.
  • Fixed an issue that could prevent the media player from finding MP3 files on an SD card.
  • Fixed an issue that could prevent audio from playing after powering on from ignition.
  • Fixed an issue with repetitive prompts to restart the device after a software update.
  • Improved software stability.
Personally I am growing to despise this GPS because of the bluetooth issues and Garmin's awful support. If it wasn't because of the integration with the GS I bought I would turf the thing. I bought a Tomtom Rider 400 for my second bike

Some of those updates and bug fixes would seem to be quite useful. For example, we hear lots of pleas from bikermates for routes that avoid tolls, either because they are dull to ride or because the rider objects to paying what he regards as a tax and an affront to his bikermate rights. Garmin's inclusion of an update for a way to better avoid these roads (other than by using a map and some imagination) is to be welcomed.

I don't use any of the sound / Bluetooth functions, so Garmin can poke these where the sun don't shine and stop wasting my time with them. I find my life is easier without the angst comm's (to use the bikerspeak term) so often seems to bring.

Enjoy your TomTom and / or or change your bike, mate.

PS Thanks for the heads-up :beerjug:

Seems not to be available for the 590 which has the same Nav engine I think......

They are different in several ways, not least in that the Nav V and its sister Gatmin units use different map sets.

Similarly, the use of the whirlywheel on the Nav V requires different software, as does 'My Bike' or whatever it's called.

The mechanicals (screen, buttons, power etc) may be the same.

Having problems downloading the update...

As a bit of an IT biff, I plugged my Nav V into Basecamp and "checked for device updates" as I'm told is the easiest way to go...

... It would appear that my 32Gb SD card (which is empty bar a 37 byte word document) is not enough storage for the update. Is this right or does it default to loading the software update to the internal storage which is pretty much full (43.5 Mb free)? If this is the case, can I transfer some of the files to the SD card without there being an effect felt elsewhere??? I assume there will need to be additional work here and I don't want to lose my routes or the mapping I've already got.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated - better still if there's a GPS Demigod in the IV30 region, I'll happily recompense for services (GPS!) rendered....

Cheers :thumb2

Presume you meant Garmin Express & not BaseCamp? Save routes & favourites to BaseCamp first & format the card to Fat32

Cheers Ian,
I opened up my Basecamp shortcut and selected check for updates from the device tab, it took me to the webupdater pop-ups and it seemed to allow me to process the update that way (it could see it needed version 3.30) and it was as it was trying to upload it gave me the warning "not enough space" etc. I've tried looking for Garmin Express and can't actually find it in my root map or on my desktop...
