Well, I hope the build quality is better than the old System 6. I am on my 4th helmet, all have been replaced under warranty and today the sun visor on that broke. No more BMW helmets for me I’m afraid. Two had leaking visors and two broken clips that hold the sun visor in place.
Yeah, my System 6 has repeatedly self destructed or disassembled itself and will be replaced with a different brand lid.
Light, yes. Quiet, yes. Comfortable, yes. Sturdy, no. Having to ride from Belgium back to the UK with one side of the chin bar held down with gaffa tape was annoying, to put it mildly. There have been more incidents since
Mine has suffered once from the failure of the early (now redesigned) chin bar hinge plate.* Apart from that, it has been the best System helmet and I've had them all from System II.
I'll certainly consider whatever the replacement is, when I need a replacement.
*Fortunately mine failed in the up position and at home just before going out. I used an old helmet and took the VI to the dealer where the plates were replaced FOC. I can see how that would be a bigger problem had it happened somewhere further afield.
My system 6 sun visor bracket broke recently, I'm a 2 1/2 hour flight away from my nearest dealer so no chance of returning it. Is it a part you can fix yourself?

Apparently not.
Motorrad simply replace the helmet.
I think the flawed design stems from the under-chin wind pad accidentally catching the visor, and the inevitable weak spot is where the visor is attached to the frame - two tiny tabs either side.
Motorrad must have given the initial design-brief to a couple of first year high school students. Utter crap.
On the plus side, the rest of the helmet for what it stands for, is half-decent.
