New to 1150Gs

Hi I just recently upgraded my bike from a Honda Varadero Xl to a 03 R1150GS. Its a great bike but when I start it up it is a bit rattely for a few seconds then it quitens down . Is this normal ??
Also the transmission is a little noisey sometimes ,is this normal ?,
Any info would be great thanks..

Seriously, if in doubt, have a meet up with another tosser and compare noises

Thanks,, I think it will take some time to get used to the rattles and electrick whirring noises. but over all it is a seriously good ride..

A BWM is a bit of a shock compared with Jap stuff.
The rattle you can hear is probably the nearside cam-chain tensioner on startup.
It quietens down after it fills with oil and actually tensions the chain.
You can fit a later tensioner that fixes the problem if you are bothered.Do a seach for info and part numbers.
