Hi all
I shall be picking up my 12 on Friday having riden a Tiger 955 for the last 2 years and I can hardly wait.
My question is this: I had intended to do an overland trip across the sahara in 2007 with my 2 brothers in land rovers. However I really fancy letting one of them drive my disco while I ride the gs.
The firm we were looking to travel with organises the tour for 4x4's but doesnt mention whether they will accept bikes or not.
While I'm waiting for a reply from them, does anyone know any firms who offer self drive bike tours in morocco/sahara?
Ive had a bit of a search on the interweb but havent found any yet.
I will also post this on advrider forum.
Cheers all.

Rather than pay a company lots of money for you to do it with them, why not just do it yourself?

It's actually pretty easy, though daunting at first, and there is a fair amount of knowledge and a lot of help available from this very forum (including roadbooks, waypoints through the western route etc etc), let alone from Horizons Unlimited etc.

Unless you're flying out to collect prepped vehicles and they do all the hard work for you, I honestly can't see why someone would pay someone else to do it.

there is the world of bmw tour to Morocco...twice a year in April & October...

I know our local dealer here in Hampshire (SPC) does organised trips abroad, probably in connection with World Of BMW.

Why not speak to your nearest BMW Motorrad dealer and see if they do anything?

Alternatively, try:

http://www.worldofbmw.com/

Brace yourself for the price though..............

Thanks for the info guys.

The main reason for going with a group is the support issue and it takes the work out of the planning.

I will have a look at the bm world bits and horizons unlimited although the chances are that we will end up organising it ourselves just for the fun of it. As we are a mixture of 4x4's and bikes the tour operators might not touch it anyway so we may have to.

In the meantime any more info is greatly apreciated.

Ralph
