new to gps!!!

Hello All,
As the title says I am new to the GPS world and recently purchased a 2nd hand 2610 that came complete with version 5 mapsource. I have obtained v9 and unlock code and all seems to be running well on the pc but when I attempt to transfer maps/data to 2610 I get a message telling me that the unit does not support v9? All help on how to resolve this is greatly appreciated!!
I have registered the unit, does the actual unit also have to be unlocked?? if so should I expect to pay a fee for this?

Is the unit updated to the latest firmware, check garmins website to see if it is running the latest version. The 2610 does support v9.

or alternatively just download webupdater from garmin connect your gps to the pc and run the program, it should update it for you.

have you got the right v.9?

you need just v.9, v.9 NT won't work.

Then I checked the version and it is V9 NT!!!
