OK I've settled in to my new iMac great, love it to bits... wouldn't go back :)

My HP Laserjet 1300 works fine :thumb

My Canon S800 photo colour printer, recognised straight away, uses the Mac driver (Gutenprint V5.2.3) and the print dialogue box doesn't allow me to choose the type of paper I'm printing on. On the PC, with Canon's software, I could produce great colour photo's, picking the paper accordingly.

Looked on the Internet with a view to finding up to date drivers for the Canon for the Mac but to no avail... can find some updates that want to turn my printer in to a scanner? How daft is that?

Photographs printed are very 'dotty' easily visible to the naked eye

Tried printing from iPhoto and PS Elements...

Any suggestions or advice most welcome please :bow

I've done a search by the way...

Photo 1 is how it prints

Photo 2 is the actual photo

the paper choice should be hidden away in a drop down menu

Had a look Cookie and thanks ... found the drop down menu :thumb

Thought that selecting the right paper might get rid of those 'dots' but doesn't... the photographs comes out like a picture in a newspaper where you can see all the individual dots making up the photo

Checked the print settings ... 500 dpi

Any ideas welcome ....
