New to me 1300 gs

I’ve just bought an ex demo trophy for a very good price, it has the ride height device and the twin Achro can, however it doesn’t have the lecky screen which is a shame but I can live with that.
I would like o get a higher more effective screen as it came with the short standard trophy one,
I have looked at the MRA touring one and it looks the business has anyone any experience with them on the 1300?
Another question ,the bike came with an electric seat but when I go into the heated grips menu to adjust the settings the seat drop down menu doesn’t show anywhere, I have the build sheet and it doesn’t show the heated seat as fitted from new, so it may have been fitted in the show room but never configured to the bike? Any thoughts

Yeah it is plugged in, I bought it from Vertu who are 6 hours from where I am, so can’t just nip down and ask if they configured it to the bike but will give them a call tomorrow.
Their service has been very good so far.

the grips and seat are the same option in the function button menu. when selected press the rocker button up to toggle the settings for one (grips) and down to toggle the other (seat). This guy explains it well :

I think the heated seat may be a paid for option in the software. It's fitted to all bikes now but not activated unless you pay for it. Could be wrong but think it's a possibility. It should appear as an option under "heating" on the hamburger button when you select heating. There should be a symbol for the grips & the seat. Ask your dealer if it's activated.

Seat heating is £150 when you spec it on a new bike so I expect it may be that (or more) to switch it on later. You'd have to ask your dealer to know for certain. A lot of things are going that way, pay for having them switched on in the software. I think KTM charge to activate the quickshifter on some models.

If the bike was sold to you as ‘having a heated seat’ and if it can be subsequently activated why wouldn’t you request your supplying dealer to cover any potential cost incurred?

worth a try but I think you said the build sheet for the bike didn't show a heated seat. These are speced when the new bike is ordered & built at the factory. Think they started fitting heated seats to all 1300gs this year?? but only activated the software if they had been paid for. Suspect the dealer will have to plug the bike into diagnostics and they connect it direct to Germany & you will have to pay BMW for the licence to activate it. Don't think the dealer will have control to activate it in the software directly themselves. The dealer will tell you anyway. Good luck.

I called the supplying dealer this morning they said it wasn’t on the build sheet and were surprised that the seat had a wire attached t it.
The bike was registered in May this year so if they all come with seats prewired then I will find out at the weekend what it will cost to activate it

Since you didn't buy it locally, you might consider asking Calum at Central Customs if he can enable it for you. He has access to dealer level diagnostics.
