New toolbox fitted

Well my new toolbox arrived today, (Thanks Mark) and it is a very well made product and fits great on the bike.

Took all of 20 mins to fit, most of that was sorting the socket set box out to get the right size

Heres some pics

Looks good and out of the way so can stay fitted even when the panniers are not

ok off to buy a crud catcher now.

I like the large side access door. Mine is a different make with a small hatch at the back which is difficult to get things out of with my xxl hand.

Fitted the one of Mark toolboxes to my bike last week,good bit of kit very well made and well thought out with the easier access by the side opening..

+1 for the tool box. Fitted mine about 3.5 weeks ago, then did a 3600 mile trip on/off road to Morocco....box was well tested, and came thru with flying colours....

I keep my tools in my 1200GS Vario top box. Seems to do the job although it does contain a few other items.

Do you have any issues yet with the box bottoming out on the rear mud flap thing?

I have the GSEmotion version box, and it does hit once in a while (despite proper preload settings) and while on road (has not hit offload yet as far as I can tell).

I've heard the same about the Raid Box.

I'm about to lower The bike 2cm with a WESA upgrade, so I'm a bit concerned.

I also had issue with my hand/stuff and other fitting in the box was not water tight.

In all the GSEMOTION unit is really nice, but has been overall disappointing.

I'm interested in this unit...please report your experience/impressions.

I got mine from DS Bike Protection (Spain I think) only 95 Euros , so cheaper than the GSEmotion version. I have had no problems with the bike bottoming out onto it and yes, even though it's a front loading mechanism it is still very functional and no issues with water ingress

I have not been out on the bike yet through illness, but hopefully will get out tomorrow for a quick blast to see if it catches or not, and to be fair as for waterproofing it does not really bother me as I trust nothing so everything is always inside of a plastic bag to keep dry.

I'm about to lower The bike 2cm with a WESA upgrade, so I'm a bit concerned. I`ve had mine lowered and I can`t use my box or anyone elses unless I remove the rear mudguard

I also had issue with my hand/stuff and other fitting in the box was not water tight. I gave up ages ago - i had the Italian one which was brill but still leaked. Mine leaks so pragmatically I put in drain holes and use strong plaggy bags to put my gear inI found access on the Italian one very difficult too, thankfully I have a friend who is a gyneacologist and he got the stuff out for me You can try any number of seals to improve the waterproofing but go careful - I still got leaks and in the end also rely on the plastic bag insurance!

In all the GSEMOTION unit is really nice, but has been overall disappointing. I thought it was brill and struggled to improve on it but I also agree it could have been better

Take a look at keith Bouncers full report on the box, it may help. Mine is good (I guess I would say that) but so are the other ones to always be fair - make sure you choose the best one for you!

One thing I will say for mine, because I do it simply for this reason, is that it is bloody well made and should outlast a lot of others. Sadly the trade off is weight as my previous Italian one was lighter because it was made cheaper - your choice mate!

Pal, just make sure that your bike hasn`t been lowered and that you have the suspension set up properly - I don`t doubt your competance whatsoever but I would hate for it to bottom out on that rather snazzy brake line cover thingy.................

Thats a Pyramid rear hugger fitted to keep all the road crap off the back of my boots. It looks like it will clear that with not a problem at all, so its just the plastic splash guard that will need removing,

The bike has not been lowered but I think once its loaded up and with the mrs on the back it will casuse problems so will have to remove it.

I have not had a chance to test it as yet as i cant ride at present due to a mishap at work. I have used some plastic bags to put the stuff in placed inside cheapo pencil cases. I will be able to test before long and in the current drought we are having. it won't be to long before the waterproofing gets a testing.

Mark...thank for all your comments! I appreciate the input! I think for me (after the lowering) will sadly be to DIY myself some kind of tube like I've seen others do...I fancy keeping my "fugly" mud guard ;>

Good point, i`ve got a couple of those tubes and they seem pretty robust and good but sadly just not big enough for me.

I also have a lowered GSA and i feel exactly the way you do, I`d love a box but they just foul on the fugly mudguard!

If i ever get chance I am going to design a smaller box which will be able to be used on lowered bikes and allow the fugly mudguard to stay in place!

In the meantime I have a spare tube if you are interested. Brand new, unused and a good bottle of red and its yours!
