Blimey that's expensive. AFAIK Akrapovic don't make headers, not sure if that comes with them or not.

If you're after a fair whack of noise and popping, I recommend remus headers and an akrapovic can. Take the baffle out and you'll be giving us all a bad name, all day long :D

The Akra full race system is exactly that, race spec and not road legal so no EU stamp or removable baffles for times when you would like the bike to be less noticeable. :augie

As has been said Akra do not make a set of headers for the 1200 the only way o have Akra headers is as part of the full race twin shotgun can system and even then you cannot fit any other end can to it as you can with a set of Remus headers which will in fact work with any replacement end can designed for the bike and even the stock can.

The Akra full race is a great system but not everyone can live with the noise levels and they used to appear regularly on here and Ebay because of this.

To try and anwser your final question IMPO the Akra race is a great system but not worth the full RRP against the alternatives which are not just Remus but BOS, Laser or even Two Bros who all produce full systems.

BOS contact Fowlers of Bristol, They have full systems and they sound great + comes with DB killer

I ahve the Akra twin shotgun race system on my GS for the pasr 7000 miles, I bought noise reducers (baffles) from a KTM dealer and fitted them. the baffled pipe is not so obtrusive now, still noisy, but too bad.

I don't think it has increased the top-end power, but the pick-up and mid-range are definitely improved, and it pops nicelyu on the over-run. It aso weighs nothing compared to the OEM system.

Remus header + Akra can. Me too. Usually with baffle in the OUT position. :thumb

Makes it sound like you're riding a bike, not a lawn mower. Not sure if there's more power or not. "Adequate" as R-R would say.
K+N filter helps it breath a bit better - leans off the mix a bit (slightly better mpg) but I don't red line it all the time so don't reckon there's any probs.

+1:thumb thats the way to go looks and sounds great and so much lighter than the origonal exaust/headers:thumb2

full remus set-up which has been excellent so far - would highly recommend.

i would have gone for the akra can but it was just that bit too expensive over the remus revolution.:)

Am thinking more towards just changing the can for now, and maybe the headers later. Seems popular choice is Remus or Akropovic.

Akropovic is a lot more expensive than Remus. On Nippy Normans, for example, carbon Arkro is £519 and carbon Remus is £339.

Big price difference. Why is this? Is it a better product? Better made? A Ford vs BMW thing?

I've had a few exhausts fitted in my time and for some reason Akra cans seem to tick all the boxes when it comes down to construction, performance and sound.

Remus make a good product but given a choice it would have to be an Akra, I found Remus drone too much for my liking paticularly when cruising, the Akra sound is totally different, but of course this is all a personal opinion.

Remus headers and BMW approved Akra can, baffle out for me.
Bassy and fruity, and popping. Even the dealer who fitted it (Bahnstormer) said it ws "gorgeous" and they all came out to listen/rev it up!.
I had a Remus end can on my GS 650 X Country (yeah I know its a different bike - 50% less cylinders etc) but I wasn't overly impressed with the quality, or the droning. Build quality on the Akrapovic can on the other hand is sublime. :D

AC Schnitzer

I've got the new AC Schnitzer, System with matchin air box, on my 06 GSA.....Sweet!!!

Its matt Back and Carbon in a HEX cone shape...

Be a little different....

Price is comparable with Remus and AKRO...

Sounds really good with baffles or wivout

Bishy

Remus

I was looking at fitting the full REMUS system to a 2008, NN said you cant fit the engine bars so looking at the BMW bars.
Anybody done this?

:oonyack
