Hi everyone, just become the owner of a nice Triple Black GS and signed up here for what is a great site with loads of help from those who have lived with this bike for so long. :bow
I know it’s been covered lots but if someone can provide some help on the wind issue, I have searched but have not found the obvious . In general I don’t have a big problem other than being 6’4”! No buffeting but I am finding the main issue is wind hitting my knees and appears to be bouncing up and hitting my body creating a bit of noise. Has anyone fitted the Puig lower deflectors with a noticeable difference? It’s a big hit for a bit of plastic. Thanks and Happy Biking :beerjug:

Wind noise may be coming up the gap around the forks …there was a post on here about fitting a piece to stop this…..
I haven’t tried it, so cannot say if it works.
…or try the winglets that fit either side of the screen…this maybe where the problem lies.

Good luck, and enjoy the new bike

Thanks for your help. Cockpit cover and winglets are certainly up there for consideration. Certainly enjoying the bike now the weather has arrived.
Happy Biking.

For umpteen years I have always enjoyed the tickle across the thighs but its whats happening around my ears thats the problem. :)

Hi Kwicky… also 6’4” and have owned two standard GS’s in the past including a Triple Black, always found protection around waist and thigh area poor, as mentioned a Puig screen sorts the upper issues superbly but for me even large deflectors on the tank failed to solve the problem for a large ish guy.

Probably don’t want to hear this but eventually I bought a 1200 GSA the difference is amazing used the same Puig screen ( with deflector) the “ bubble” effect works extremely well even in heavy rain at road speeds.

Good luck

Buy a Goldwing :D

Thanks for the feed back everyone. Don't want to shell out even more on something that will not work. I will have a tweak here and there and enjoy the flow and keep the tickle going.

The standard screen was OK for driver (6 foot 2) but the passenger was buffeted.

I found the Puig touring screen on the 1250 to be absolutly awful and worse than the standard screen at anything over 50mph - it also flapped more than a humming birds wing!

The MRA Vario Touring Screen was really good for driver even in a low mode and produced no buffeting for the passenger set to max but seamed to amplify noise at anything aproaching motorway speeds for the passenger.

Good luck :-)

Thanks Rossman. Early days yet so I will probably be sticking with the original adventure screen for the time being. Its great to read all the various thoughts on this. Deflectors it appears is a why bother as it brings no obvious benefits for the outlay for the items.
