I've recently put down a deposit on a lovely 2009, 1200GS, 9,600 miles but have a slight reservation.
It rode beautifully and is just what I want, except that it makes a clunky metallic noise in traffic (not touching the clutch) coming back on the throttle after shutting off.
I could repeat it by shutting off then opening up again as many times as I wanted it to.
I mentioned this to the salesman and he rode it up and down the car park then let the service people try for a second opinion.
Their reply was that it was normal, so against my better judgement accepted that and left a deposit. Had a few sleepless nights since!.
I'm trying to get as much info as possible, and have been ringing round the dealers for advice, but am still not sure.
Should I lose my deposit and walk away, or live with it? Or do they all do it?

but my 1150 clunks just the same. It is the take-up of the 'slack' in the drivetrain and quite normal.
