Had my center stand replaced today due to rust even thou it’s out of the 2 year warranty by a nice dealer who was of the opinion it wasn’t good enough that it was that rusty after two years. No quibbles or arguments Good lads.

Dealer fixing things out of warranty

Maybe I should take my new to me (Spet 15j bike along to Lind.
The centre stand is in terrible condition compared to the 16year old 1150GS it has replaced.

My replacement centre stand was rusty 9 months (approx 2000 miles) after it was changed but BMW considered this to be acceptable and refused to replace it again.

My 7000 mile bike has severe rust issues on both main and side stands... to the extent that I had already thought about “and when the replacements go rusty too?” I have requested that instead of replacing, BMW has the existing stands stripped and either powder coated or stove enamelled... they don’t seem keen (oddly - NOT) because I would guess that if they did, it would be admission that their paint quality was not to a high enough standard.
I also have warrantee claims running for the rear brake wearing pads and disc too quickly (3000miles per set of pads, 9000 miles per disc) the rubber gaiter on the shaft drive perforating in 8000 miles and paint around various point on the engine bubbling...
