Just ordered myself a new F800GS after never really settling down with my 800R. After a couple of test rides I had to have it. My only issue will be the screen not being high enough, so any advice re a good replacement would be useful. Thinking of the Wunderlich adjustable screen (£172 Nippy's) which is cheaper than the BMW touring screen and looks good too.

You are spot on about the screen. My 800 is going back for reasons not related to the bike itself. I have passed on accessories to friends and by a long way the accessory I miss the most is my Touratech screen with the MRA spoiler on the top. I was frozen solid riding back from London the other night. That taller screen makes a huge difference. :thumb

Take a look at the large Givi screen, if you want to see pictures and videos look at the show us yours in 650/800 (gunznBomz -the blueberry f800GS you cant miss it paddy) has the same.

I was given the 800R for a loan bike whilst my chain was being repaired, a really fun bike but a bike short for my liking.

Anyway I have the metal mule screen on my 800GS, still a bit of wind in the face... but I'm 6' 5" so I guess I can't win here.

I've just got the BMW Touring Screen, so only a few hundred miles, so can't really comment. But, initial impressons are that it is excellent. Much better than standard. I haven't tried it in the rain yet, and I'm not worried if I never have to (we deserve a good summer this year). If you see one, they are much more swept back than most others, and probably more economical on a run.

+1 for BMW Touring Screen.
My bike came with it on + a standard screen, I've done about 2,000 miles and never be tempted to change them over.
Reading the threads on this forum, your height, seat height etc, are all factors that can make a big difference:)
I had a 800 ST, until a deer wiped me out last November, replaced it with an '09 F8GS, for the more upright riding position and I love it, I still miss the ST a bit, but no more aching back:D
Good luck with your new GS:thumb2
