Came in at 28lb.
Think its a new pb for Charlie.
Best fish landed on the Lochy in a few years :clap
Think Ill catch the tide tomorrow :thumb2

Gordon, that's amazing. I think I will pour a wee dram to toast your achievement! :clap

Sadly not mine BS, my pal Charlie, who spends a lot of time on the river and was due a return, landed this wee beastie on his fith cast of the season :thumb2
But enjoy the dram anyway.

There's nowt taste's better than a wildie you've caught yourself.
Must be 20 years since I caught one but I still remember it like it was yesterday, the fight and the resultant supper. :thumb2

Nice fish.

I'm sending the photo to a mate wheo just yesterday came back from a week in Ireland without a bite. Again:blast

Six years he's been paying £700 a week not to catch a fish.

We never seem to get any big fish like that over here on the Wick river, I was given a 7lb salmon by my neighbour - that seems to be a decent fish for us. But it's good fishing, plus we get a lot of Sea Trout in Sinclair Bay that are heading for the small burn up to Wester Loch. Good fun.

I've never caught one, though.:(

Thats an amazing fish, better get the fly rod out and head up to the lake myself soon for a spot of trout fishing ... you never know I might actually catch one this year

I caught a salmon about that size in New Zealand, wasn't that hard:nenau

Tried various baits without success (fished for over half an hour without result), but eventually settled on a lure replicating a feeding pellet (did I not mention this was on a salmon farm?:mmmm).

The effect was impressive - a single cast with the lure and the water was boiling with fish - could have walked across the lake on them.

I'm reliably informed by my fishing-mad brother that this doesn't count as proper salmon fishing.

Lovely springer there, tail like a shovel. I've a day on the Ridge Pool on the R. Moy soon, but there won't be any of that size there
