Has anyone done the nick sanders coast to coast to coast trip, was thinking of doing this next year for my special birthday, would be very interested in any info on this trip.many thanks steeevo

Good luck with that one old son. There is absolutely no way you will experience America with the time he takes getting across and back. It's more of an endurance test than a tour and you will have very little time to relax or take it all in. I spoke to a guy a while back who had done a Sanders trip and his very words were "if you like riding through Monument Valley at 90mph at 11pm and possibly sleeping in a bus shelter, his trips are for you"

I took 10 guys Coast to Coast one way in 4 weeks in 2010 which is barely enough time to see the great things which are there.

Are you sure he's doing it next year?
I wanted to do it this year but events conspired against me, unfortunately.
I e-mailed Nick to see what dates he planned for next year and he told me he wasn't doing The States next year.
If he has changed his mind, and plans doing it after all I'd be very, very interested in joining him, despite the comments above.

And, despite everyone's suggestion it's cheaper and easier to do it yourself I have yet to find any evidence of this, despite looking at many different options.
It would appear that some/many people on here have issues with the guy.
Why? I have no idea..
No doubt they have their reasons.

Because I work full time, get limited time off and have a wife who's not interested in motorcycling to consider.
I don't have pot loads of cash and Nick Sanders trip looks like an excellent way of getting a good overview so I know which bits I want to spend more time in, without it costing me the earth.

I can then, hopefully, go back and spend more leisurely time in the areas that have captured my imagination.

Oh, and bragging rights in the pub of course.

I watched an episode of his Nick Sanders around the World Series on Sky a short while back and it covered his coast to coast with a number of guys n girls who paid to accompany him.
It was big mileage and long days they all appeared knackered and the pressure was on to get it done,at least two riders dropped out complaining that it wasn't what they thought it would be.
It certainly wouldn't be my idea of a trip of a lifetime doing it in such a short period of time

Fair points Tim but looking at his pricing, it's not that cheap. Bear in mind, you have your bike insurance, food and fuel to find and I bet you won't get any change out of £6000 for a 3 week blast.

Last time I checked it came in at around £4,500 which IIRC included eeverything bar food, fuel and insurance.
It did, however cover transportation for me, the bike, and luggage. The use of a support vehicle, technical and medical expertise and a knowledgeable guide who , I thought, knew his stuff.

Even without the guide, the support vehicle and the doctor in tow I couldn't do the same trip at the same price when I started working loosely on the figures.
I can absolutely see why it wouldn't suit everyone but it looked tailor made for me.

Start off by having a look at his claims about the doing the fastest RTW trip

Smoke, mirrors, ego and bullshit.

It won't take you long to find it, independently of here......and when you do, I bet you'll sit there thinking 'Wow, the man really is a twat!'

I've NO reason to hold a grudge against the guy only met him once at a bike show and he was pleasant enough, I merely commented on what I saw in that particular episode, as you have said some riders would revel in that type of trip and enjoy the bragging rights at the end of it.

We did 3400 miles in 16 days last year, including two rest days, so coast-to-coast in this timescale is easy enough.

However, the bit in the middle is really dull. Most of the interesting stuff is west of the Rockies

Agreed. Do a west side trip once or twice each year and do it in 10 days, 4,000 -5,000 miles. Granted, we've seen most of the crap before and know where the good stuff is.
