nick sanders american expodition

Once spoke to him outside a dealers at Clay Cross,he had the Mobil 1 Triumph.Spent half an hour chinwagin, seemed decent enough to me.Then again i did,nt need my arse wiping

I've chatted to him a few times and he does seem amiable enough, but I don't need my arse wiping either, which is why I organize my own tours (although I have led tours for friends who needed theirs wiping :D ). However, if Id paid for someone to wipe my arse, I wouldn't expect them to p*ss off into the distance and leave me to my own devices :augie

Do you remember sitting outside a roadside cafe on the way to marrakesh waiting for some GS riders who'd taken a wrong turn.

Feck'em, they know where marrakesh is. :D

Happy days and I remember that ride through Marrakesh to the hotel:eek

His job doesn't involve wiping your arse.

His job is to get you to take a dump without sitting down on a royal doulton throne, you get to wipe our own arse.

Nick sanders american expodtion 2014

Are you sure he's doing it next year?
I wanted to do it this year but events conspired against me, unfortunately.
I e-mailed Nick to see what dates he planned for next year and he told me he wasn't doing The States next year.
If he has changed his mind, and plans doing it after all I'd be very, very interested in joining him, despite the comments above.

Sungaets, Shetland. Just wondered if you had done anymore about doing nick's 2014 american expodition as having just had a slide show and talk about his 2013 trip from a friend here in Shetland who has done it i would love to give 2014 a go. I have been made well aware how things happen. My friend would go again.

Sungaets -
You're welcome to tag along on one of my trips next year. Right now, we're looking at doing Indy to Glacier National Park and then down to the Rockies in Colorado and into New Mexico before returning. It's a trip I've done many times before and always open to other spots or locations that you might want to go to, (California, Nevada, etc).
Also doing an off road only trip to Colorado and Utah sometime around late June.
Let me know if you're interested.

Hi folks
Has anyone done the nick sanders coast to coast to coast trip, was thinking of doing this next year for my special birthday, would be very interested in any info on this trip.many thanks steeevo

Steeevo

I've ridden across the US twice, once in 2002 (Vancouver-Nogales-Toronto) and again in 2006 (New Jersey-San Francisco-New Jersey), two of the best longs I've ever done in my life. In 2002 my young niece (19yrs) was on the back but 2006 was a solo ride, 17,000 miles in three months. I much prefer to ride alone and to put 500-600 mile days in then perhaps stay a few days at other times. Riding alone mean't I could do as I wanted and didn't have to concern myself about others. The US is a truly fabulous country with some of the nicest people I've ever met. There's also lots to see and admire in the East too such as the Blue Ridge Skyway and city centres such as Washington DC and NY, but it gets even better was you get into the West.

If I can help or advise in anyway, please PM me.

My posts of a few weeks back seem to have been removed. I was simply trying to point out that if you don't know where to start/don't want to self-organise an Own Bike USA Mega-tour and you do want to ride with like minded bikers, with an appropriate level of support/guidance then Fullfattours.com is an alternative option.

Andy, there is no problem putting it in the Vendors section otherwise it's spamming which is a no no as this section is for advice and not selling tours. Best of luck with it.

Apologies. I didn't mean to offend. I was attracted by the title of the thread and in particular the comments of many forum members. As suggest I'll post in the vendors section. Cheers

Hi Steeevo
I have just been reading this thread and am curious to know what your final decision was?

I went with Nick Sanders on his very first expedition it was called, Journey to the Top of the World Highway Expedition. From my experience on this trip I can empathise with many of the comments both positive and negative. However all I can say is that along with the 'seat of your pants' planning by Nick it still remains one of my best experiences both in spite of Nick and because of Nick.

I left the group towards the end of the trip because I wanted to take in Niagra Falls when we were on the way back to N.York but none of the others had the stomach for it because they were tired and wanted to get back and off the bikes and I had calculated that I needed to do a 1000 mile day in order to get to NF as this would enable me to then travel to NY at the same time as the group and thus have four days in NY with them as a grand finale. I achieved my aims, but the reason I mention this is that I dont't think that I would have attempted to do this before my experience over the previous three weeks. Before I went on the trip I had lots of experience touring Europe and doing what I thought were high miles / hours per day (up to 500) However Nick's trip enlightened me to what really is high miles or low miles but long days. At the end of the trip Nick did go into hiding as I think he was fearful of retribution from some of the people. But I was happy with it all even though I did have a big row with him at one stage of the trip because he left a lot of people high and dry when he decided to stop earlier instead of the agreed destination. As such some of the group had no camping gear etc. I was ok because from the early outset I had decided to carry all my own gear so I was self sufficient should I end up on my own as I did not want to rely on Nick for obvious reasons.

So my advice to you would be to do the same if you go with him (carry kit with you that enables you to be self sufficient). Expect big mileages and little personal support but also expect to have a great time and an experience you will never forget. I think that Nick is a very astute and eccentric business man who inspite of his appearance is very shrewd and Nick focused but having said that I like the bloke and never for one minute regret investing in the trip. I would not ride with him again because I like doing my own thing and it is cheaper for example I am in the process of planning a solo trip across the US down to Ushuaia hopefully I will be leaving by October. Would I have done this if I had not gone with Nick in the first place? who knows. Good luck Steeevo whatever you decide to do. Enjoy it and stay safe. Gordyman
