I have replaced the brake lines on my 2000 R1150 GS with standard brakes
Fitting the line to rh front caliper I had to remove the thing that replace the brake nipple. I decided to replace this with a bleed nipple.
I popped down to my local brake supply shop to buy a 10mm x 1mm brake nipple, bet home fit it and it is loose a loose thing till it nips up. Take it out and mic the bastard, turns out it is 9.3mm diameter with a 1mm thread the item I tool out mic-ed out at 9.8mm
Turns out not all nipples are the same even though they are sold as such.
In the end I ordered one from the local stealer and 3 days later they had it in for me with a dust cap.

And did that 'stealer' rip you off

Was the nipple extortionate from BMW ?

To be honest it wasnt that bad.
Generic nipple was NZ$8.00
BMW with spare nipple cover NZ$22.00. Spare nipple cover because I didnt know the nipple came with a dust cap so I ordered one.
Motorworks my ususal source wanted £17.00 post for the parts

JayC I see you are not used to paying for vehicle parts that are not main stream here in New Zealand. Your eBay link might have done but I wanted to sort it this week.

As you made the comparison with a UK price I assumed (ass u me) you were prepared to source from the UK if the price were friendly enough.

I always check Motorworks prices as a reference and to see what the part I am after is. Originally I was going to fit the generic and then order a correct one from MW but after the bad fit i went to my local BMW dealer half expecting them to not have them. I think the salesmen was surprised that they them at BMW NZ

Be careful with generic bleed nipples into alloy calipers. The nipple won't corrode but the alloy will go mad and when it's jammed the threads the stainless won't take much torque before it lets go.
