just had a LED rear light bulb board thingy from Nippy.wow !!! the rear light and brake light are so bright on the 80G/S straight fit for the pre-90 100and 80 brill' !!!!!
Also Norman does a trick LED voltmeter, absolutuely brill' and easy to fit, a must have twinkling light !!!:D :D

Have you measured it

Have you actually measured the light level with the lens on with a light meter, I saw one of these and thought it was not so good so I measured it and it turned out to be 1/4 of the brightness of the filament bulb, maybe this is a new type, I'd be interested to know the LUX value of the LED array with the lens on.

I followed a fellow GSer home rom Park Lane last night. He had a Nippy Norman LED rear light and it looked to me every bit as bright as a regular bulb, whatever angle I was looking from!

tekno

well dont know about the tekno stuff but a GS with a standard light next to a G/S with Normans LED was (to the eye anyway) at least twice as bright. It even shone up as much (if not more) as my STX1300 from 100yds:D good 20 quid mod' I reckon:beer:

I think (and this is a bit of a drag up from the haunted east wing of what I laughingly describe as my memory) that you might not always get the correct reading for light output from an LED using a "standard" lightmeter. I remember attempting to measure this stuff when they started to become common and some lightmeters integrate across the spectrum to give a result whilst LEDs are fairly monochromatic so they pump out lost of light at particular frequencies and nowt at others, confusicating the meter.

I could be talking complete bollocks here and thinking about lasers (which I was diddling with at the same time). I'm sure someone will pop up and correct me if so...

Is it

you are talking about? I was looking for an LED replacement for my R80 too, so that might just do the trick.

Cheers,
