Nippy's new oil can

Too bad they won't ship to Canada. What, it's dangerous? Don't want to encourage those yanks to remove their evap canisters to install it?

Quotes from NN website :
" .8 L (which is the perfect quantity for back up oil)." WTF ?
"Do not ride your GSA without a back up oil always on your bike!!!!!" OOOOOOH !

There goes NN's credibility.

And honestly, 12£ for an empty plastic bottle - jeeeez.

(sorry, just my 2cts)

This is how I explain the usefullness of the bottle size.

You are out and about on your tour and notice the oil is a little low after blasting up stelvio.

So you buy some oil from a local garage. The bike usually only needs about 100 - 200ml so you have 800 ml left.

What do you do!!! store it in the pannier or throw it away.

Here comes the bottle - just the correct size for all that excess oil.

and guess what

as the 800 mls is approx £8-£10 you have already saved the cost of the little bottle.

and next time - you have oil ready under the tank.

Some bikes do not use oil so ignore all of the above.

Do all GSA's have this space? :nenau

....I looked yesterday and couldn't find it :blast

....I'm off to the garage now to have another look :augie

.......No..

..it would seem that I've just saved myself £12 then....

....there's no space on my 06 GSA :blast

My 08 GSA has a space that sounds like the same thing on the inside front of the r/h (as you sit on it) tank wing. just near the r/h fork leg. I wonder if I can get my min air compressor in there. Seems like a better use of the space.

If you need oil and you've got panniers there are loads of bottles that have been strapped on somewhere at one time or another.

IIRC the space is there for some kind of extra filter for the USA market.

At £12 it is a good deal! My bike doesn't seem to use any oil between services but Nippy's bottle stashes away so neatly I know it is there 'just in case'!
Good advice about not filling it too full etc.

How to save £12........caus you still have to buy oil @ £12 to put in the oil can which costs £12......

I spent my £12 on a whole litre of oil which I carry in the panniers on long tours abroad, it takes up soooo much room though!

Thus a saving of £12...... for more savings tips please go to www.howtosave£12.com :ronno
