Hi All
Need some advice have bike stripped down, just fitted new set of foglights follwed wiring instructions taking power from main headlight wire to switch then connecting all wires to relay then onto battery. Checking to see all worked before putting fuel tank and panels back on, turned on ignition, headlight does not come on. The small parking light comes on and the stoptail lights, main beam works with flicking the individual switch. Also, new foglights not working.
Anyone got any ideas? Bike is 12GS Adv.
Further to that, have disconnected all the wires from the foglights and relay switched on ignition again, but still have no headlight. Have checked bulb, and that works OK.
Thanks, Martin

Thanks Mech & Prop
The fuse in the new relay is fine and there are no fuses for the bike system i gather.
If the engine has to be running then i have a problem as i have the tank of at the moment.
I thought the healight came on as soon as the ignition was on?
Have gone over all the connections again and i cannot see anything staring at me

I replaced a blown bulb in my 1200, switched the ignition on, and it didnt work , went out and bought another bulb, switched ignition on, that bulb didn't work :spitfire. As I was going out that night on the "Pink way round", I was a tad miffed to say the least. I had aux lights, and my main beam worked, so I adjusted the lights down, pushed the bike out of the garage, started her up and voila! The light came on.:o
So yes, for reasons best known to BMW, the engine has to be running for dip beam to work. If your fogs are wired from the dip beam, then they too will require the engine to be running.
