By pressing the map info button on my 660 I can see both maps:

1. CN Europe NT 2011.10 3D
2. CN Europe NT 2011.10

I am now pressing 'Receive from Device' in Mapsource and I get a message that my device has no maps installed in it!

Why is this happening?:confused:

Mapsource has NT 2010.1 and I don't think I can update to the maps that my 660 has. I tried to download the maps again from the Garmin website and install them to 'my computer' only, but the installation fails.

Download

When you downloaded CN Europe NT 2011.10 did you set it to update Computer and Unit. Default is Unit only.

What are you trying to receive from the device?

Maps?

Routes?

Tracks?

Favourites?

====

Do the maps you refer to above have their boxes ticked?

=====

Have you tried sending data the other way? PC to 660?

If so, what happened?

Can you see the maps on the screen of the 660 itself, not just the map types referred to above? You know, see the roads and streets, scroll around, play with them etc etc?

Default is 'unit only', I remember that.;)

Both maps have their boxes ticked, yes.

I turn it on and I can definitely use it, no problem. I tried to create a custom route with Mapsource, and when I uploaded it to the device it asked me to recalculate the route, because it was created with a different map version.

I have had the unit since yesterday, but I believe that I am doing the update procedure the right way. My unit did get the update, the computer not...:blast

Top left hand corner of the Mapsource screen on your PC.

What map set is showing in the drop down box?

Is it the same as on your device?

If not, is the correct map shown on the drop down list? If so, select it.

Does that cure your problem?

If the correct map is not shown, download it to your PC again.

The tutorial shows the following screen, which has the map on the top left side:

My Mapsource looks like this:

The map version is located under a different tab:

Am I doing something wrong here?:nenau

Every time I try to update the computer I get a message that the update failed. That is after a long time, because it downloads, processes and then tries to install the maps.:type

The last couple of map upgrades I have done DO NOT have an option to update PC and/or satnav. As already noted one runs the update, it asks for the satnav to be connected and then, without asking any more questions, spends a couple of hours updating both.

Its actually a pain as I want to update my PC and two Macs and I can't stop the software updating the satnav EVERY time - although it already has the maps on it.

If the PC is not getting updated maybe the fault is on the PC. Not enough space for example.

While you go through the update process and click 'NEXT', 'NEXT', etc, you will come to a screen that will display 'Custom' On the bottom left. If you click it will give you the option to install the maps on the unit itself (default), PC, or both.
