No more `V` rated D607`s

I wonder why anyone would intentionally put a D607 on their GS anyhow! :D

Mine came with them, and I am way underimpressed.

The Tourance, Anakee, Distanzias are all superior tires in every way! IMHO!

What didn't you like about them?

Apart from wearing quick (4000miles on a rear) I find them really good tyres: More grip than I need 99% of the time, loads of feed-back (when they do let go they let you know and are very progressive in the way they slide and come back in line), neutral steering and very good indeed in the wet :thumb

This is the first bike I've had with 'dual purpose' tyes, and I thought the first thing I'd do when I bought the bike would be to junk the tyres and get some more road orientatered rubber such as020's but, to be honest, I've been so pleased with the Dunlops I'm probably going to stick with them (on my 2nd set now).

Of course, I do only use the bike on the road, don't suppose they are any good off road on anything more than mildly challanging terain.

Seconded.

I have the 607s since new. Been through two sets on the back. I thought they were brilliant road tyres - grippy and responsive!

Just switched to 020s as no V rated 607s left - man they are ugly! especially the front! Hard to know how good they are this time of year.

The Tourances would have probably been a better bet this time of year but you live and learn.

I really liked the 607`s, as Andres said very progressive when sliding :D & if they still made V`s I`d have some more :thumb It`s a sad day :( Why couldn`t they just make the V rated one & stop the H?

Fourthed. For exactly the above reasons. :thumb

Well I`ve bit the bullet & ordered some Pilot roads from fwr.co.uk for £180, £60 cheaper than my local
Any opinions about them from those who`ve got them on?

After riding Tourances on my 11GS, and on a loaner 12GS, the D607's lack in grip somewhat, but more importantly, they wear fast, grip even worse in the rain, completely suck off road, and make a lot of noise.

I also have ridden the Distanzias, and prefer them for off road. Better grip in the slippery stuff, decent wear, good on the wet or dry road and very quiet.

Of course these are all just my impressions, but from 17K miles on GS's, not without merit.

Dunlop D 607

I had Dunlop D 607's on my 1200 and found them to be good in both dry and wet and very wet conditions and mine was still going at 6000 miles although the back was getting near limit from a good mix of motorway and A , B road riding

I would have these on again in a heartbeat :clap

also whilst at Garmisch this year i spoke to the Dunlop people and they told me that the D607 for the 1200 is a special one lighter construction than standard

So i would be dissapointed if they stopped making them :(

Availibility of D607

Can anyone tell me where to get D607s fitted in the London area? They were on the bike as originally supplied and were superb.

Fitted Tourances as replacements when had first puncture due to lack of availibility. Do not compare and with second puncture on well-worn rear, want to revert to D607s.

Thanks in advance

John

I guess the first point is that one should use the tyre (tyres) which were homologated (therefore supplied with) any particular bike. And if you can buy a GS with TKCss then there is your answer.
Secondly, the declared speed rating is the 'maximum sustainable speed, at the rated load'.

I made the change for the winter - and I wish I hadn't.

The Michelin's seem very 'squirrily', especially the rear tyre. I'm going round roundabouts at barely more than walking pace.

The 607's were superb.

I`ve had my Pilots on for just over 2 weeks & haven`t even worn the hairs off them! My poor bike hasn`t seen the light of day for a week or so. I don`t like the road salt :(
I did really like the D607`s, why didn`t Dunlop just stop making the H rated tyre?? :nenau

I've had a 12 loaner with 607's - did about 1k on the bike. I certainly rate the Anakees a above them. I'd like to try tourances, but would not want to sacrafice the grip of the anakees.
