This morning tryed to start the bike up, but starter motor not working.

Fuel pump, FID, ignition all fire up as normally, but no starter motor action on pushing the button. I can hear some relay clicking under the seat if pushing some starter button, but nothing else happends.

Tryed engaging clutch multiple times on different positions, neutral on/off, moved the engine a bit on 5-th gear if the starter is stuck or so. No help...

Well, bike stood few minutes outside if i was about to put my car out of garage and if pusing the bike into garage i last time pushed the starter again - it worked! And worked full day in the town.

Damn, I've had one similar incident few weeks before, but it just didn't worked few times pushing it, then the starter rotated.

Fuk, what the hell is the matter with it? Don't want this happends next time by surprise...

Side stand switch ?

Only if it's in gear.

Locate the starter relay & put a piece of steel bar or old screwdriver across the terminals (in neutral naturally:D ). This should turn the engine over by taking current direct to the starter motor. The fact that you can hear clicking shows that the basic connection is there.

I'm not too familar with the starter set-up? Have you checked to ensure battery's fully charged?

The battery voltage would be the first thing I would check. Put a voltmeter across the terminals, and press the starter button. The voltage should not drop too dramatically. If it does (anyone have a figure?), then your battery's shagged.

It seems to be fuggin starter relay. Had similar prob today. Check the voltage on "failing start" it was the same when pushing the button, gave a healthy 12.4 volts. Took the relay off, shaked a bit, back on, and starter motor fired OK.

Looks like i need to replace the relay?

Thanks, Margus

It acted so strange, one time worked, another not. Bought new Varta battery today, and still the same. Thought the relay is faulty then - opened relay checked it, seems OK. So i tryed this - pusing the relay back while holding down starter button - bastard fires up! Same as i simply shake relay in it's socket.

SO, it's the frekin' starter relay cabling beneth it that doesn't work properly!

Damn, why electrical issues have to be so frustruating?

Damn Varta costed that much, now have OK condition spare Delo battery siting on shelf... At least i hope that quality Varta will solve my ABS startup issues...

Cheers, Margus

Damn frustruating electricity...

And again i was wrong!

It was relay! Moving it was just that the plastic relay sidewall put the stuff into contact.

Opened the relay and tested it on multiple situations while it was installed and cover removed. I had to bend one clip, coz relay was corroded and didn't make contact well while solenoid pulled the magnet. Now seems to be working.

So if you have starter problems, the relay may be an issue. :P

Thanks for the info on the resolution. Could come in handy some day.
Glad you're up and running.
