No voice prompts after installation

In common with previous posts, on fitting my 2610, lo and behold, no voice prompts either.

Can someone let me know if hard wiring Autocom part 174 to the Garmin bike lead is the only panacea for this problem? (Of course I hasten to add that I get voice prompts when the unit is on the car!).

The Garmin socket certainly seems to be a bit 'iffy'. I had the same problem but found that slightly unplugging the Autocom plug restored the sound. So I cut some small squares of electrical tape and made a hole in the centre of each, then added one at a time onto the plug to act as a spacer. It took about 5 (less than 1 mm) and sound is now fine with no problems in nearly a year.

Good call! Obviously the jack goes too far into the socket, thus breaking continuity. A couple of plastic shims (from a plastic bottle) spaced the jack and socket to perfection!
