Probably in the office. Again.
The Panzer died on Monday morning. Typically, it did so as I was on the way to a radio interview in Swindon in the pissing rain, then heading on to another one with ITV in Farnham. It's all glamour in the media, Sweetie...

I reckoned it was the Hall Sensor, having had one go on my last 1100 with exactly the same symptoms.

Got it trailered by the VERY helpful RAC man back to NOG. Called Possu first to make sure the workshop wasn't rammed, but all was well. Simon booked it in and I got a lift home.

Got a call from Simon yesterday. "Your bike's ready - we've replaced the Hall Sensor 'cos the wiring was fecked. Do you want to come and collect it, or we can deliver it. What do you fancy?"

I explained that the office is in the arse end of nowhere and miles away, but that apparently wasn't a problem. Now I was getting worried. If the lads at NOG are offering to deliver the Panzer to the wilds of Gloucestershire, it's got to be a BIG bill.

I steel myself to ask. "OK, how much is the repair?" I ask Simon.

"It's £260." he says, adding that there's no charge for delivery. Bloody brilliant.

So, this morning, about twenty minutes ago, another one of the NOG lads turns up in the van, wheels out the newly repaired Panzer, won't even stop for a cuppa either.

And they've only bloody cleaned about two thousand miles of crap off it as well. :clap

Now, bear in mind I've never bought a bike from NOG and don't drop in all that often (which may not be a bad thing from their point of view :D). I reckon that's pretty impressive service.

Thanks guys. Bloody ace. :thumb2:thumb2:thumb2:thumb2:thumb2

Well, whoever NOG is he deserves full praise, £260 sounds very fair, cleaning it and delivering it goes beyond what I think I could expect from my local dealer

Right, so there is nothing stopping you from coming to your local TVT meeting tonight? :augie

Panzer

Glad to see you got it fixed , and top praise to NOG .

A couple of weeks ago on a day off , I decided to go for a ride , wandering the back lanes of Gloucs on the Pathfinder [ 1998 , 59k ] .......

http://steve1962.smugmug.com/gallery/6535013_xvicx

.....then headed down the A40 west , turned north into the sleepy village of Shipton Oliffe .........30 mph , steady throttle , 3rd gear ......... the bike just died .
I have no mecahnical inkling whatsoever in any bone in my body , so I phoned the AA , but managed to get it started again after a few goes , so called them back and cancelled , deciding to make a run for home ..... back to the A40 , brisk ride on the empty road [ 59.9 MPH ] to Burford , down the high street , over the bridge , right up the hill through Fulbrook ........ on the way up the hill , it did it again .BUGGER !!
Left it a few mins , fired up - BIG BACKFIRE , but got it going , so rode home .

Phoned my mate Andy [ we have ridden a lot together and he knows bikes inside out ] - he diagnosed a faulty ignition coil - I got one from Motobins , Andy rode over to mine on the Saturday , and between us , [ ie he did it -] , the replacement one was fitted , we did a test run , and the Pathfinder is now fine .
Andy is a top bloke - he lives 90 miles from me , yet was willing to ride over , fix the bike [ it was bloody freezing ] , go for a test ride [ all over the Cotswolds ] , then after refuelling at my house [ home made cake and coffee ] , ride all the way home again in the dark .
The ignition coil was less than £25.00 , if I'd taken the bike to a dealer to get done it would have cost a fair bit more .
Safe riding ,
Steve
ps - have you got a bike cover now ?

Hey Steve, good to hear from you! It's legendary BMW reliability innit? :D

Never tracked down that cover, think it probably blew away or maybe got nicked. Suspect the latter in Bampton!

Ah - sorry. Jargon Central. I've spent the morning writing about plain English too...

NOG = North Oxford Garage

Thank you, hope this is the start of a campaign for writing proper like.
Serious answer by the way.
I actually opened the thread and then wondered why I did so because NOG means nothing at all to me so merci bien and I'm off now as the sun has just come out.

Filthy

Good plan.

Not much point in cleaning it round here though - one ride into work this morning and it's fecking filthy already. :D

.the weather was so filthy this morn , that I took the soft option and used the car ..... piggin pea soup in my neck o the woods - I need at least a chance to see the deer and pheasant !!

Steve
