Hi i am newto this forum and first I want to say hello to evrbdy..

I am a R1200 GS owner.. when I bought the brand new 1200 app. 3 months ago I was hearing some noises coming from the cylinders at the specific RPMs of 2500 and 3100 when the motor is warm. No noise when it is cold. The noise is like two metal thing is hitting each other.. I thought it will end after the first 1000 km period service. But it did not cancalled. I took the bike to the service again and they told me that they have to tighten the piano over the valves. They did it but the noise is continuing.. And they also told me that these are normal noises for 1200GS. Is this true ? Can share your experiences with me? Thanks a lot...

Is this one a test to see if new Tossers answer? If so, I guess I lost :blast

Most oilheads sound like a bag of nuts and bolts being shaken to me:D
Mind you my old airhead sounds like something is trying to escape most of the time, and has done since 1990:D :thumb2

Sorry, you're quite right and I should know better.

If it helps, my recently purchased 1200 (a late 2004 model with 9000 miles on the clock) is a fairly noisy piece of work as well....and all the ones I've tested have been as well. Just seems to be the way they are (from my very limited experience).

An aircooled boxer is just never going to sound as smooth as a Jap water cooled inline 4.

Cheers, Ross.

Can you type out the sound of the noise for us ??.
