You know the noise the pump makes when you're just about to run out of fuel?

Well mine is making that noise most of the time - even when full.

It has run dry a couple of times.

Is this a big problem or not?

Mines done exactly the same for 5 years and is still going strong........

I don't think it's an issue but I will be getting a spare fuel pump this year as I am not close to a dealer ......just incase.

Cheers

Both mine can be heard when running....
As long as it`s the kind of 'buzzy/whine' you can hear don`t worry about it.

If it`s a 'bubbling/gurgling' sound then you`ve got problems.....at least a loose clip or split pipe.

Depends how much of a problem walking to a petrol station is,doesn`t it ?? :D

Thanks chaps.

Doesn't sound too serious. No gurgling noises. Checked all the fuel lines.

A German friend suggested a new/clean fuel filter too. He said if the filter was dirty/blocked the pump would strain more to get fuel through it.

I'm planning to ride up through Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh in N India next, with mountain passes up to 5600m. The Manali to Leh road has 365km between gas stations and a max height of 5400m so - tarka - walking to the petrol station will be a BIG deal!

Yep, mine started to do awful sound at some point too - could hear it while riding from my plastic tank that reduces the sound considerably compared to metal tank! But it worked easy another 20 000kms and still working on the crashed bike.

Acctually i'm guessing the noise appeared after i changed the fuel filter, coz i think about then it started to to loud noise, or it's just a coincidence... :nenau

U have ADV tank right? You should be able to fit 32 (additional 2L) litres in there with a simple trick looking around the forums :thumb

Let us know how the 1100 holds up on 5000+ metres of altitude. I may have to do the same thing one day :)

Happy travels!

Cheers, Margus :beerjug:

Yeah - have the ADV tank. Did the drilling filler neck and bending float arm tricks. Get 31 point something in there.

Max range is 600km and min about 420km so no trouble there anyway.

In theory the 1100 should be fine at that height but I'll let you know.
