Tried the 12GS with servo brakes. Loved the bike, but I could not get on with brakes. Contacted SPC and they are now taking orders for Non ABS 12's. At the moment there are no supply problems and you can order the spec that you want. They will be available in January. However, there is one less red/silver/black 12, cos thats mine in March!

Christmas will be late for me this year. At least 2005 is not a leap year so February will only have 28 days.

Hi, great choice of bike, i'm sure you'll not regret it.
Do you think the feel of the brakes will change without ABS, have you tried a non ABS 1200?

Just interested thats all!

It's been hinted at already here but don't hold your breath!

Fair enough if you want to save £750. I would probably have done that myself if it was an option but now I've got the ABS I'm really pleased.

The 'feel' of the brakes without ABS fitted will be no different to the feel with, unless of course you include the use of the the ABS cutting in as what they feel like. When ABS cuts in you'll know it!

So basically if you don't like the brakes with ABS you won't like em without.

Would be interesting to know what it is about the brakes you don't like. I think that they're bloody brill!!

Re Wraithrider

I agree, I don't think the brakes would feel any different with out ABS, only if the servo was an option would there be any operational difference, anyway its only a personal thing but I think the brakes are fantastic!

See ya soon

In answer to Jetjock, the cost...ah the cost! The base bike is 8650 pounds (2005 price - up 5% from 2004). With extras - heated grips (195), white indicator lenses (22), alarm (175) and spoked wheels (245) the final cost is 9287 pounds. About the same as the base ABS bike.

The non abs bikes are non servo'd. My current bike, an 1150gs, has a abs, which I do not have an issue with. I do however have an issue with the servo. This to me is overcomplex for the sake of it and I could not get on with the feel of them.

If the non abs are naff then I know how to sort the problem, I cannot do anything with the servo though.

All riders are different and I can accept that some owners are happy with the servo brakes. I was not. I am however delighted that the non abs - read non servo - bikes have been released.
