Decided to check the pads in the rear caliper.
Near the limit, so in with the new set that I had on the shelf.
Rear wheel solid, caliper not moving on the sliding pins and one of the bellows has a hole.
New bellows delivered from Motorworks and caliper removed from bike.
The caliper had a little movement on the rear pin but none of the front pin.
I had this problem when the Grumpy One did a service on the bike a couple of years ago, and I remembered him unscrewing the rear pin to let the carrier pivot around the front pin to work it free.
Easier said that done, but success.
The rear pin was in good condition but the front pin was rusty.
Front pin sanded down, socket cleaned out and filled with supplied Brembo silicone grease, bellows fitted and pin greased.
Rear pin reinstalled, bellows installed, more grease added and everything put back together.
Everything moving as it should.
Pads in, caliper bolted on and bled.
The bike nearly ran away from me as I wheeled it out of the garage - a good sign and a reminder of how the caliper must have been dragging.

An online search would suggest that the pins, which are of a flexible steel, are not available due to some arrangement between BMW and Brembo.
Does anyone know anything different?
