hi all
went to start the bike this morning on way to work, turned ignition on and the display light up as usual, for some reason i then connected my heated vest and turned it on (dont usually do this till engine is running) when i tried to start the engine i got a few weak clicks and then the display went blank.
Now the display stays blank and there is no life there at all. dont really think there is a problem with the battery as it was fine yesterday. the heated vest is a keis and is connected direct to the battery and the inline fuse for the vest was ok. didnt have time to check anything else as needed to get to work so left it on a trickle charge just in case, but to be honest wouldn't really know where to start, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the battery has had it's day, when they go they just go.

I'd say definately battery.....worth a charge on an optimate/charger to try and boost/recover it....or a new battery.

Batteries must have been working extra hard in these sub zero conditions, what with the extra effort of starting, added to heated clothing ..it does take it's toll.

Agree with above, battery. When they go, there is no warning and you just get the death click..........

thanks for the replies guys, just been home to check and the trickle charge has started to put a little life back in to the battery, i think i already know what the answer will be but once fully charged do you think this will hold or should i just go and get a new battery before the 20% end at motoworks today.
on the brighter side i thought i had blown something, so not as bad as i was expecting.

Time for a new one just to be on the safe side, if it's done it once whats to stop it doing the same again.

Still likely to be the battery, disconnect battery lead and try charging in isolation, error light will confirm if it is the battery gone fubar

I put an west co battery from tanya batteries on mine and seems fine even in these sub zero temps, i did look at an odyssey at the time but didnt want to alter anything under the seat and the west co was half price at the time :)

as mentioned earlier motoworks are doing 20% off the odyssey at the moment but ends today, just ordered mine. after reading up on here and elsewhere is seems the ideal candidate.

When you fit it make sure it clears the seat post.

great thank you for your help

Just ordered one 20% off

Happy New Year to all

its a very annoying problem on the GS, not a blink of warning just the death click and thats it....a dead bike. I'm on my third battery in 4 years, and one occassion cost me a pick up as well.

just a quick thanks to all concerned, picked up my new battery this morning and all is well, just a note to jasper1000 when you come to fit it check where your live lead comes from and then check routing in odyssey instructions, mine was different and meant having to do it twice.
