Non starting rt1150

Just A Quick question, A friend of mine has a 1150rt and during the winter it has been attached to a optimate, Went to start it the other day and the bike was completely dead no ignition light, called a recovery vehicle and they attempted to jump the bike, still no ignition light, then put his charged battery across the terminals still no ignition light and so has taken it to the dealer at Alton, has anybody else had this problem

Obvious question.. was the optimate showing the battery was faulty?

can be many reasons other than a faulty battery though. fortunately most are simple to resolve. once you've removed the family of mice that have made a home in the loom.
