Hi,

Just returned from a few days in Normandy, five of us on bikes.

Went to all the assault beaches and lots of other interesting places.

Point of my post is to recommend the place we stayed, it's about a ten minute ride from Utah beach, so very central for a base.

Really biker friendly, bikes stay in a barn overnight, lovely hosts, english couple and amazing rooms in a farmhouse with plenty of military history.

If you are not interested in the military side of things, it's still a great place to stay.

Address is below, well worth checking out the website.

La Gouderie, Angoville - au - plain 50480 France.

Cheers,

This comes up on Google so am just trying to book it. Nice to see it recommended on here. Is the barn locked or does the bike need chaining up?
Cheers:)

Hi,

It's a great place to stay, the barn where the bikes are stored does not have doors, but the gates via the main entrance are locked. Best chain it up. Although it's a very quiet area.

If you are going for the military interest, so much went on in this area on D-Day. very interesting, I am sure you will enjoy it.

Five of us went for a few days last year, looking forward to going back this year.

Enjoy,

Chris.

I stayed at La Gouderie in October while biking around Normandy. Lovely place to stay and it's got great history. The bedrooms are fantastic. The owners are Brits and military vehicle enthusiasts. I highly recommend buying and reading this book before staying there to appreciate the action that took place in and around the farmhouse on the days following 6th June 1944:

The line of machine gun bullet holes across the living room wall is particularly impressive.

I was given the book for christmas, after our visit back in the summer.

Really wish I had read it before we went, it would have made the trip so much more interesting.

Saying that, it was great anyhow. Plenty to do and see. A big fat ten for David and Sue at La Gouderie.
